You don't get it. It doesn't matter whose name is on the sign. If it is a dry milling ethanol plant, then local farmers own 51% of that plant. If a plant is not majority owned by local farmers (co-op) then there is no state subsidy. Subsidies range from 20 to 30 cents per gallon of ethanol produced. Your little graph doesn't explain that to you. ADM plants are not farmer owned, with most of their production wet milling process which also produces corn starch.

Take the Valero ethanol plant in Hartley Iowa which is actually 51% owned by local farmers but operated by Valero, which owns the other 49%. Apply that to just about every plant except those owned by ADM.

It is never about the environment. Never was , never will be.

It is about money and control.

In the case of ethanol the corn farmers give Politicians millions of dollars

Isn’t ethanol simply fermented sugar? Why hasn’t the sugar industry jumped on this?

So farmers need to grow less corn and have more cattle. I support that decision.

The five-year study, partially funded by the National Wildlife Federation and U.S. Department of Energy, found that ethanol is at least 24% more carbon-intensive than gasoline

File this under no shite, for anyone that has ever seen a forest cut down and a commercial farm put up.

Hey, what’s that sticker on gas pumps that says it’s good gas? I’ve been looking for them. Cannot remember what they say. Noticed on Shell and Exxon. Basically says something like clean fuel

Nah dude, you can thank George Bush No. 2 and the Republicans for ethanol fuel additives. It was part of the Bush Energy Act from 2007.

It never fails to amaze me how liberals will lie in defense of their masters and The Party. Democrats controlled both houses of Congress in 2007. They authored and sponsored the bill. It would have been a massive tax increase on Americans if the GOP had not negotiated down to its final draft.

Another question, if you buy the most expensive gas like 93, does that have ethanol in it too?

The renewable fuel standard is up for review next year. It looks like this is an attempt by the USDA to get the requirement struck down because it's stupid (the EPA knows and has known this), and focus more on advanced biofuels (which it should have in the first place). Ethanol was Obama pandering to leftist lobbyists at the expense of the world. It is his version of the disaster that was MTBE.

It's almost like there's two types of Democrats, the fricking idiots and the corrupt pieces of shite. And a lot of times they run simultaneously in our dear leaders.

Failure to promise ethanol subsidies is even more harmful to POTUS hopefuls in the Iowa caucus.
