yeah HIV is difficult for heteros who don't engage in anal sex (or who don't engage with sex with people who engage in anal sex with others). anal sex is just a breeding ground for disease transmission, in large part due to anal fissures it creates

herpes is much more common and less reliant on the anal sex part, although the same rules apply

quote:

or have sex with a gay man (difficult for women to know)

i believe this is one of the main issues in the black community. the prison-industrial complex has so many black males incarcerated, a large portion of the population has engaged in gay sex. this is severely problematic for sexually picky females, as there is a drought of potential male partners who aren't at high risk for the diseases

Yep. I think the wording in the article is what threw me off. It’s not tracked from an STD standpoint, but it is tracked, in general.

I was surprised when I read about how unlikely it is to contract HIV from PIV sex. I grew up being trained that we were going to die if we have unprotected sex.

we grew up around the same time so we both were raised ignorant of reality, as the mass hysteria ruled in our formative years

I stayed a virgin a lot longer than I should have because I was scared of getting pregnant or STDs. Lame.

well you're a female so you're still at higher risk with PIV sex. the transmission rates for males with PIV sex, and i mean unprotected, is low. i think herpes is 5% or less and HIV is sub-1% iirc

so even if you're having unprotected sex with a woman who is herpes positive, as long as she's not in an outbreak, your odds of transmission, as a male, are still very low. with HIV it's all but impossible

*ET: with HIV other than mate choice based on demos, you have to avoid IV-using partners (which is now becoming a larger worry again)

if you're a male who limits his sexual behavior to educated white women who don't have sex with lower class males (esp black males) and males who engage in gay sex, your odds of getting herpes, via unprotected sex, are insanely low. like 1% or less each encounter

So we track 2 million STDs and just guestimate on the other 18 million?

Just one more example of the complete collapse of western society. What's worse is the root cause of the problem will be ignored, as will the obvious answer to solving the problem. We have become a people of fools.

?

People have contracted/died from STDs forever. Large numbers of people.

What is the obvious answer? Abstinence?

I would imagine this is likely to the boomers being so plentiful, and they are getting older. STDs run pretty rampant in older communities because they frick without protection because "they cant get pregnant"
