Also if you move there, you’ll need a golf cart.

Yeah local cops seem to not really care about the electric golf carts so long as they are not on the main roads. Wouldn't shock me if New Roads and St. Francisville both allows them to be licensed eventually. The bulk of their local street grids are 20mph or less.

Probably makes parking a little easier when there are events in town.

The hood in new roads stays on their side and it’s really not that bad, just looks rough because they refuse to keep it up and the city basically told them not on our dime.

I think the new mayor in New Roads wants to put some money into Parent Street (sidewalks, landscaping, lighting), but they are busy fixing some neglected sewer system or something.

They need to do something to redevelop the old Piggly Wiggly shopping center.

It is ok at best. Pablos has a better breakfast, but the breakfast is way better at the Birdman coffee in St. Francisville.

Yes the new Hottails is supposed to open in the old Satterfields, but they are sure taking their time.

It’s a great place to have a camp. Problem is the cost is more like a primary residence. It’s great from Thursday night until Sunday afternoon. Then it dies. It’s great for a while if you can afford a really nice “camp”. I had one for several years but it gets old. The spirit and food is good. The people are great. It just got old to me.

Yep, sonic franchise told Glen the owner at that time he had to stop selling fried chicken to keep the sonic name because sonic doesn't sell fried chicken. It really was because of popeyes, they still failed in town twice. He gave up the sonic name called the place big boys well because he was a big guy. He sold it probably close to 2 years ago. It still operates as big boys now.

Patrick Queen (the LSU/NFL star from Livonia) bought the drive-in for his parents to run

And the hospital 100% does blow.
They're an individual entity and almost all of their doctors and NPs in the ER are contracted so they bill you separately from the hospital and it'll cost substantially more if you go there vs any OLOL/BRG/Ochsner affiliated hospital.
Plus they're one of the few hospitals with no cath lab so if you're taken there for a heart attack RIP.
And they even got the nearby Primary Care providers in on their nonsense. The MDs down the 50 ft sidewalk connecting the offices to the hosptial send you to the hospital lab for any labs or covid/flu tests and the hospital bills you separately for it all because they're "not affiliated with" the primary care providers. It's a joke, an expensive joke.

New Roads leaves a bad taste in my mouth ... It was near to the venue of the Celebration of Life Rock Festival fiasco in the Summer of '71.

Yeah it's about 25 miles from McCrea (where the rock festival was).

Big Boys and the original Sonic definitely put Popeyes out of business....twice. I had some of the fried chicken when I was in town a few months back. It was VERY good.

Russo, and Meyers bought it from Glenn. If they sold it to Queen that is news to me.

That place across from the old Dairy Queen (Jarreau’s?) makes a good burger. They also have a Juneau’s on LA1.
