It looks awesome, but isn't 30 gates smaller than the existing airport? It looks pretty small. I hope they left themselves room to expand if necessary.

B has 11
C has 15
D has 12
so yes, fewer.
btw, I wasn't trying to be a dick with the glass comment. i'm just stating I hope that glass is hurricane proof because it could end up being an issue down the line.

Well Terminal A (6 gates) isn't used right now.
Terminal B has 11 gates and is now used only by WN which uses 7 gates.
Terminal C has 15 gates and only 10 of them are used.
Terminal D has 12 gates and all are used.
So 29 are currently in use and most are vacant throughout the day. With consolidation and the ability now to move overflow aircraft much quicker and use one gate for multiple airlines 30 gates shouldn't be an issue.
For instance, AUS only has like 22 gates.
