That's like saying you shouldn't tip the valet guy because you also don't tip the hotel building where you stay.

The valet guy is providing you with a SERVICE. He is allowing you easier access to the building, parking your car for you, and bringing it right to the door when you leave.

Person in OP is standing still. Literally. That's not a service.

and some of them tip, some don't. It is part of the "job" (it isn't a real job breesus). Don't be upset when you don't get a tip. People in this city always expecting a damn handout, even a lot of the homeless get upset if you don't give them any money.

Hell if I know. If someone is playing music, juggling, or something of that sort I tip them all of the time if I watch them perform. Dipping your stupid arse in paint and looking like a statue isn't performing.

Why not? Sounds kinda pinko commie to not pay for value received.

If my employees do something for me, I don't pay them extra out of my pocket for doing so. Just because something happens to you throughout your day that is good, or makes you feel happy, doesn't mean your next move should be reaching for your wallet.

It most certainly fits the dictionary definition of performing.

This. I even said on page 1 it'd be different if it was a musician, or a dancer, or someone doing SOMETHING. A guy standing still is a frickin joke.

Ok, so...you agree that in this situation someone has the right to tip or not, whatever they feel like.

Yep. Just like the performer has the right to call him an a-hole and yell at him or not. No difference there.

quote:

Well, make up your mind.

Both have a choice. Tip or not. Yell or not. I dont have a problem either way but if you dont tip you deserve to be yelled at if the guy wants.

quote:

This guy is in a "profession" where he knows good and damn well he is "working" for tips.

And every person in the public knows it as well.

quote:

Someone not tipping absolutely doesn't make him in the right to talk shite.

Yes it does.

If someond didn't tip a waiter or their barber, which I imagine applies to some people here, would you advocate that person following them to the parking lot hassling them?

No. But i would advocate the waiter pissing in your food next time you eat there or the barber shaving your head for no reason. The street performers only retribution is to call you an a-hole in public. As he should. because youre an a-hole.

Because believe it or not, there's a great chance that a tourist comes from somewhere that doesn't have street performers. I would also imagine most tourists tip due to the above.

I tip 20% minimum at all restaurants and barbers. I'm a great tipper, when people are providing me a valuable service that makes my day easier or does something I can't do myself.

Standing, maybe not. Standing in a costume in a crowded area for the purpose of entertainment is most certainly performing.

So tell me exactly what he TOOK FROM the performer. Tell me what the performer did have previously, then OP took from him, to where he no longer had it anymore.
