Feds use only base pay (high 3) when calculating retirement benefits. At least, they did 19 years ago when I left.

Some of these are likely stacking pay for their retirement. Unless there has been a recent change, they base retirement pay on the last three years of pay (including any overtime). It is a stupid rule. The officer works a ton of overtime for three years and gets a far heftier retirement check.

The State really needs to omit OT pay from the retirement pay calculation.

No, overtime pay is generally not included in the calculation of retirement benefits for New Orleans police officers. The retirement plan, specifically the New Orleans Municipal Employees Retirement System (NOMERS), uses "earnable compensation" or "base compensation" in its formula, which typically excludes overtime pay.

Seems like OT is already excluded according to this guide

I highly doubt he was doing work. Probably claimed he was, but was sitting on the couch watching some TV show. Examine his body cam. If he's lying, then that's theft of public funds, and he should be charged with a felony theft if it's over $600, which it definitely would be.

I wonder how hard it would be to just hang out at their house while on the clock?

If he is working a security detail then he might just be sitting around fricking off on his phone or watching TV.

If the person paying for the detail doesnt like what he is doing there are avenues to make sure it doesnt happen.

As long as he is doing the work no issues. There are alot of detail opportunities in New Orleans because of all the big events and just the FQ Itself

PO’s get overtime on court cases, hence one of the many reasons why some go hard after DWI’s.

Every cop in every city can do this. Increases the lavish pensions, so when they retire at 40 you have a huge pension to pay out for 50 years

You have no fricking clue at all about this

OT doesn't count. You can't retire at 40 and start getting paid immediately unless you started working when you were 10. Why some of yall feel the need to comment without doing the least amount of research I will never know.

Working extra details can be pretty laid back work.

Standing by your cruiser that’s parked by garage G before a Pels game, and sitting in your cruiser during the Pels game… is hard fricking work.

Bunch of crooks. Just a bunch of lowlife, common thieves. They’re no better than the criminals they arrest. Worse really, because public servants are held to a higher standing. Why wouldn’t they investigate this before announcing the abomination that is their timesheet. Then maybe, just maybe you could prove they didn’t work that much. But nah, let’s just let them know so they’ll be more careful about their theft.

You think pay is being fudged....just a little? Don't blame Latoya ( you can, I don't care) but then you'd have to blame Vic Shiro, Moon Landrieu, both Morials, Sidney Barthelemy. Ray Nagin and Mitch as well. Along with police chiefs like Joe Giarrusso, Henry Morris, etc.

This has been going on for 50+ years

Dude, you're talking Antoine Saacks money, now. Only NOPD cop I ever met that was a bona fide millionaire....and that was 35-40 years ago.
