I would imagine the DA's comments about not prosecuting anything except murder one was a swift kick in their nuts. Why bust your arse and risk your life trying to clean things up when you know that's gonna happen?

There's cities like Tampa that are just as big if not bigger than New Orleans that have smaller police departments.

Who in their right mind would want be a NOPD Officer for under $40K/yr to start? Working in communities that hate your guts and wouldn’t mind killing you for nothing, yeah no thanks.

What else are they going to do that gives them the power and pension? They're not all Bosch.
There's probably a floor to how many they will lose because only so many can retire or go to other police forces.

Well now we know why uptown is apparently so safe. Ten cops are up there. It’s almost as if a visible police presence helps to prevent crime.
