Same for New Orleans in regards to Cajun food, because of course, like Atlanta, it's not Cajun either.

It does have Cochon and Butcher though, so right there it's light years ahead in Cajun, or Link's take on Cajun pork inspired staples for New Orleans.

I prefer New Orleans. Went to atlanta recently and wasn't impressed

The simpleton answer for me would be NOLA. If I were answering you objectively, I would ask:

1. Same job in each city?
2. Same pay in each city?
3. Is this is a long term job?
4. What are his interest outside of work?

I'll just assume that pay will be similar in either city. If so, frick Atlanta. Traffic is fricking awful. Plus, Atlanta is nothing but a bunch of transplants (from what I can gather).

Job? Pay? Current situation? Married? Kids?

These are heavy factors in choosing between the two. If I had to choose just on the city alone, New Orleans.

New Orleans is arguably the best music scene in the country. It is in the top 3 of basically any list in regards to this topic.

Ehh, I disagree. New Orleans is the best place for jazz and funk and a top 10 music city for sure. But, for some reason, they've been missing out on a lot of circuits and runs in the past 10 years or so.

Spent the past 3 years in Atlanta.

If you like culture Atlanta is extremely bland. It is a young city.

If you lean left Atlanta is where you should be. It is not a southern city and people come from all over.

If you enjoy coastline Atlanta is extremely landlocked and goes through droughts.

I like culture, a city who's residents have a common heritage, and good fishing... so after living in both I'd take New Orleans.

This is extremely accurate IMO, but it is nice being close to mountains and good fly fishing. However, I can't wait to move back to nola in a few years.

Seriously depends what type of person you are: what you like to do, what you like to eat, the kind of people you like to hang around, etc

I live in the ATL burbs now but I used to live on the north shore. I prefer LA but it's honestly pretty close if you end up in the right part of ATL.

Where is your cousin from?

I am not from either but lived in both. I think that locals in Nola have such a dislike for Atlanta, they will 80% of the time tell you Nola for that reason. Trying to be honest though many hate Atlanta, mainly because of the Falcons. As an outsider having lived in both, Atlanta was more appealing. I read one comment about being coastal but Nola does not really have great beaches near by either. In fact it may be the worst "coastal" city for a beach. Yes New Orleans has more culture but Atlanta is more of a melting pot. Culture is nice but I need entertainment and I just felt Atlanta had more to do.

After growing up in LA all the way through college and having lived in ATL for the past 25 years I'd venture to say the opportunities are greater in ATL, but it might depend on your profession. To me the burbs in ATL are much better and more plentiful than the NOLA area, including the North Shore area.

Traffic may be worse in ATL but people can drive a little better and certainly much faster.

NOLA area definitely has the edge for the outdoorsman but North Georgia is not bad either.

But as everyone knows each person is going to evaluate things differently, what's good for one might not be ideal for another.

You could really make both areas work, just depends on what criteria you are basing the decision on.

Whats so important about living in a city with "culture"?

I don't really understand that concept.
Culture from a city makes it very interesting to visit but it really isn't relevant to me as far as making a living, raising a family...etc.

That said I really don't care for any big city. I enjoy open spaces with room to breathe without having a neighbors dog barking at you or listening to someones car stereo blaring.

Other than life outside of Walmart, and Bed Bath and Beyond, I don't really know where to begin with this as you seem a bit too far gone to reach

these answers almost have to be from young singles or couples with no kids.

growing up in a metro area, when do you and your family go downtown? for sports and some special events? it really doesnt matter at all.

when you are young and on your own or married before kids, sure that shite would definitely matter. which is why this thread (like many before it) sucks dick because the OP never gives you any fricking information at all.
