Well done David. Well done.

I'd like to challenge you to improve upon TulaneLSU's modus operandi and do your own countdown lists.

His are way too long at ten per topic and you can tell he's often reaching to fill that ten quota.

Consider doing your own and keeping it in the five to seven range. I think they would be much more succinct and striking.

TulaneLSU's niche here on the OT could use some improving upon and the likes of David can make it happen.

Whenever I have unanswered questions, I find it helpful to go to Wiki and compare the time I wonder about with now. They offer many types of criteria to study and an answer can generally be found.

This also works with smaller cities like Baton Rouge, Ville Platte, and Opelousas. Good luck on your quest to solve some of life's mysteries.

All the talk now and then about reparations, this old man on the corner deserved it a hell of lot more than the clowns of today. I’m sure he saw a lot.

Large light towers to light up whole neighborhoods rather than thousands of them on streets

Is that an early 1900’s lucky dog stand in the first picture?

New Orleans looked and seemed way better in the past. It was the 3rd largest city in the US at point, was the largest city in the Confederacy. Loads of business and commerce and middle class people seemed happy (except for cholera of course).

Can someone explain what happened?

I know, Baw. The predecessor was Lucky Chien. They did not use all of the advertising gimmicks, or gaudy colors.

I think Blaine Kern Sr's father started it.

Could be my grandfather*..he started a successful career by selling "off a cart" to the vendors in the French Market. In fact my dad, and all the siblings, were born from 1918 to 1925 in their home in the 900 block of Chartres St.
