Does this mean Krewes like Oshun which have sparsely loaded floats of 10 people pay the same as a 100 person superfloat in Bacchus?

WWL870

And the shortfall is crap.

Total economic impact is about 3% of city GDP).

City government expenditures (police overtime, sanitation, public works, security, etc.): ~$10.6–11 million.

Tax revenues generated: ~$18 million ro city Only a portion of local taxes flows directly to City Hall (the rest goes to the school board, RTA, and other entities). So the city is playing number games to claim a defiicit as money spent is money spent.

Riders spend over a hundred million to put on a free show from which the city benefits. Mardi Gras parade permits for krewes cost between $750 and $1,500

This is going to escalate until the Krewes stage a Strike and don't roll one year.

Then we will see the revenue fall out from that.

Raising taxes is always the solution to this midwits. She is the same as Latoya in a prettier package. Same politics.

The city should be paying the krewes, not charging them.

Cities fight to attract major events, often paying millions to bowl games and festivals to lure them.

This is backwards, which is normal for Louisiana

It does make you wonder where all the tax dollars go when a tourism city has to heavily tax the one thing that actually brings people in. Southern cities are already operating at a disadvantage, having 30-50% of their populations being impoverished "minorities" that not only do not want to assimilate, but want to destroy the civilization from within. The rest of the funds go to waste, fraud, and abuse. It's a miracle that some of these cities can operate.

So? Do you think the Super Bowl needs security and cleanup?

It’s a huge economic gain for the city. They should be making it easier and better, not harder.

Sure. Don't have a problem with them offsetting costs if there is enough competing demand for spots.

The city is struggling and cutting costs, services, workers. This is a huge problem that needs to be addressed on multiple fronts.

The $18 million included what goes to those other agencies

Explain to me how the school board gets to benefit with none of the costs?

It’s a math problem

It’s costing the city more than the tax revenue it provides.

I guess we could cut the police on the route by half.
