It's a strange name but if you look at all the other minor league team names, there are a lot of other names that are weirder than Baby Cakes.

GM and ownership hired a PR firm out of San Diego. They held a farce of a vote/contest and claimed this was the winner. Best buzz the club has had in 20 years.

How often do they play in Pelicans uniforms? That should be the name of the team, Basketball team should change their name to Bigamist Mormons or something like that in an effort to force Utah to give back Jazz name, and then allow baseball team to become Pelicans.

I liked the Zephyrs name, but if they were going to go with this cake thing, I wish they would have used King Cakes instead. I love baseball but I just can't put my heart behind a team called Baby Cakes.
