That and if the pedestrians don't stop you have to make your way through. Ive seen this scare tourist on bourbon.
Crossing Bourbon in a car is a special skill that requires playing chicken at a high level.

The Uber/lyft stuff is a nightmare I’m hearing. Not sure why people on here keep making excuses for it
I refuse to go to the airport until they get this mess sorted out

Just get someone to pick you up and don’t rely on rideshare/cab until they get the shite sorted.

While better, the person picking you up still has to to navigate through the mess. That is the way I have always done it...or I just drive myself which I like best.

Well. It appears that everything we thought about this is coming true.
The facility is beautiful, the amenities are great.
The traffic situation is a nightmare and the shuttle situation is worse.

Don't forget folks bags are not getting put on planes. They had 100 people on one flight whose luggage was left. And a roof is leaking in Terminal A

When I got to pay gate there were 2 shuttles just parked and not in use
It's not the billion dollars they spent. It's the $9 an hour employees that are going to be a disaster.
That is unacceptable. New South Parking is the contractor, you should call them today and raise hell.

That is a joke so inside only three people in the world would know of it.

Traffic situation is interesting. A lot of people say "nightmare" and a lot of people saying it takes 5 min from exiting I-10 to being at the curb / in parking garage. That's less time than it took from I-10 to old facility. I guess people have different expectations.

This was the fear. But honestly I thought the issue was going to be, the shuttles getting stuck in traffic. That doesn't seem to be the problem since they are using Bainbridge. It seems the problem is they don't have enough of them, and, they are having trouble getting to the curb.
And no one predicted the Uber/Lyft mess which seems to be the worst of all. Seems like the drivers are idiots and the holding lot needs more control.
The baggage thing seems to be a combo of a broken part and untrained employees. I guess since it's the same employees from the old airport, they never had a chance to train on the new system, because they were always being used at the old airport? They will get that sorted out.

Has anyone done Park N Fly to/from new terminal yet?
Curious as to the transfer times on the shuttle.

My friend just took an Uber there and said it was painless. I was in an Uber yesterday and the driver was an older gentleman. I asked if he had been to the airport yet, and what he thought of using the PIN, and he went on a rant about how it was more complicated for them and required him to do more work. Not to beat a meme into the ground, but the main Uber issues I have noticed are true "ok boomer" moments.
I did hear that TSA took like 30 minutes this morning, which isn't terrible, but a lot longer than MSY typically is.

There was absolutely NO room for them to move that’s how congested it was tonight. The lines stretched from beginning to end of the outside walkways. No one could get through from the doors to cross each street section because that was totally congested too.
Honestly I’m not sure how they can fix this in the short term other than moving the Taxis/Uber/Lyft another 1000 ft someplace else that isn’t developed yet. This will be a major ongoing issue for the airport.
At Any other place I would be surprised by this but it’s not shocking how little thought was put into a new Orleans airport.

I'll also note that in Terminal B one of the urinals was broken because water was just running and had just stopped short of overflowing onto the floor. The very astute bathroom attendant just ignored the issue.
Also I was surprised to not see hand dryers in the bathroom and only paper towels.

Doesn't seem like getting there is the problem, it's getting out of there.

Supposedly they get 1) Sent to the main line and 2) have to enter in the 4 digit pin that the rider shows/tells them.
I'm not sure how that's complicated... I did read that some of the drivers don't have the most recent app update and that's causing problems.

Those last 5 lines need to get finished with the quickness. With fed gov involved, though, not holding out hope.
