Don’t fret. They’re gonna put a couple of traffic lights on the runway, so planes and automobiles can share the strip.

One plan would require every gas station on loyola to close and Sams.
All plans require the fire station to go. Another requires that hotel to be torn down.
This is probably a dumb question, but do these places have the option of telling them they refuse to sell/close?

The entire new airport was an unneeded boondoggle. There are not as many gates in the new as the old one.
The one we have now is perfectly fine.

I know that. The city owns the property in Kenner.

The old terminal is a shithole. It absolutely needed to go.

Agreed.

Well, considering and entire concourse had been shuttered, that's not a real knock on the new one.

Especially considering the parking rental and shuttle issues this creates.

How was it a shithole? It looks like any old airport. But then again I fly Delta and not the airlines in the poo concourses like Southwest and United so maybe I haven’t experienced the worst of MSY.

They had three plans.
Refurbishment
The Western option
The northern option
I have no idea why they decided to move it off of Airline highway.
The first line of option four says a lot.

Typical Louisiana mindset:
"Our airport is a pile of garbage!"
(New, state of the art terminal is built)
"We dont need a new airport the old one was perfectly fine!"

This one.

One problem is, it costs a lot to maintain. There are two levels in most terminals with the lower lit and climate controlled but never used.
The footprint makes no sense and you have three separate security checkpoints.

In what way? New carpet and paint and it will look brand new.
You just want a mall for an airport.
MSY is easy to get in and out of and since I fly out of it 2-3 times per month I appreciate less time at the airport.
If MID, DAL, LAS, SAN, HOU, BNA can be upgraded every few years MSY can be too.
It is STUPID to abandon the parking we have now and even more stupid to start using rental car shuttles again.
How stupid was it to build an airport that could not handle more traffic?? We haven't used terminal A in years and Southwest just started using the end of terminal B. Terminal C and D are under utilized too.

Probably I would love to research real estate transactions off of veterans. For instance the large scrap yard was just bought and closed.

No shite. Kinda the point of the thread.

You realize you're contradicting yourself, right?

IIRC, they said they were going to build a new access road like 5 years after the terminal construction was completed.
It's going to TAKE five years to complete. And it's going to make the Loyola exit a total clusterfrick.

And render a completely useless exit for the existing access road. Weeeeeeeeeee.

No just saying there is no rationale for a new airport.
Well there is a rationale but not for the taxpayers and here is an example Landrieu Concrete & Cement
