Head of HR is often called "Chief People Officer" or "Chief People Person" these days to try and take the stink off of an "HR" title.
It's just HR.
Yet it adds so much more to it.
HR is the least efficient department in every company, ever.

It’s more about getting the numbers up for females with C-level titles.

My brother worked for a company 15+ years ago that let their employees make their own title, I'm assuming it had to be approved, but this shite has been around before LinkedIn was so widespread.

I got promoted from janitor to manager of custodial services last year. I still have to unclog toilets and buff the floors but my resume looks much better now that technically I'm in management.

"people operations"? is that really being used? what an awkward term
The only reason “human resources” sounds ok is because it’s been around so long. Company resources in human form.

Chief of Staff in the private sector has to have the widest range of actual value of any position out there. Some are basically the COO and the number 2 at the company while others are executive assistants with a fancy title.
It's a completely meaningless title other than it sounds fancy because its a senior government role.

"people operations"
When I was an "Operations Manager" I was basically doing "People Operations". I was over pretty much everything and managed the managers that ran each area. The majority of my day was fixing stupid people issues the managers fricked up.

Honestly, I would probably choose Deputy Comptroller.

My old company changed titles to avoid having to match all the publicly available salary information for a title.
I think that’s common practice.

I see way to many young professionals with “Director” or “Senior” in their title. Are these people maybe overseeing interns?
