Squeezing out the middle income too. It's basically only tourists and doctors now, with some of the worst projects in the country on the other side of St Claude.

Of course, I've been bitching about gentrification since yuppies moved into Treme, and started calling the cops on second lines instead of joining in.

We ran into problems with this at the first place we booked for TP's. So we had to scramble to find another place. B was in charge and got us a spot. We had like 12ish I think with us.

Sounds like to me some homeowners should probably sell sitting on a goldmine.

What a great country where one can receive such a windfall by the hard work and economic productivity provided by others.

My real issue is with entire residential blocks turning into hotels. Obviously it sucks when a neighborhood changes and becomes yuppified. It's happened to several music districts in New Orleans over the decades. But it's beyond someone renting out a spare room for a couple dollars. It's an unlicensed hotel operation that's stealing residential housing in a city with a very finite amount of it.

It's a motherfricker when it is hampering me supporting the lower class strippers, waiters and Uber drivers.

Whoa, leave the Uber drivers out of it. Many are not lower class at all.

However, the strippers are still not actually saving for med school

It seems like every week someone here is planning a bachelor party in Austin. Is the town that much better than Nashville, Vegas, San Diego, type cities or is Austin just closer than the rest?

Born and raised in Texas and lived in Austin for a year I will never understand why anyone goes to Austin for anything unless you're a hippy or an SJW.

Sixth St is overrated and so is much of the city.

If my best man said, "hey, lets do your bachelor party in Austin!" I would literally punch him in the face.

The only reason anyone I think would go is if they're older and don't want to get rowdy.

this is why Louisiana is home to so many people with mental disorders and group homes. Most states have the same laws prohibiting more than an x amount of unrelated people living together under the same roof. I have a friend who has multiple rental properties that house 5-6 people in 2-3 bedroom houses and charges 400/per person. they live multiple people to a room. It's just the way of life they are used to. they live in that particular house and go to day programs so they can keep receiving federal checks.

The problem is that it's already illegal to operate an STR in nola and has been for some time. I don't necessarily agree that it should be illegal, but it is, and it can really frick up a neighborhood.

IDK if you live in a city, but if you do, imagine your next door neighbor moving out and a every few days a new group of 6-10 people looking to get trashed for the next 72 hours moves in.

Also it unquestionably inflates the shite out of real estate prices.

Basically if you own a home in a residential neighborhood, don't be an a-hole to your neighbors by turning it into a commercial enterprise.

Full disclosure: I have stayed in AirBnBs and I have one booked for a trip I'm making next month. I don't intend to get shitty and trash the place, nor do I intend to draw any attention from the neighbors and inconvenience them. I like that AirBnb, homeaway, VRBO, etc. are available to me. That said, there's a significant amount of short term tenants that are assholes that frick shite up for the rest of us.
