Ooooppssss... That is one big black eye for the Bureau. NOT the same thing as the YouTube comment deal. This was an actual call identifying the shooter as a direct threat and FBI didn't follow up.

quote:

The FBI revealed Friday it got a tip last month that Nikolas Cruz, the 19-year-old accused of killing 17 people on Valentine's Day, had a gun, wanted to “kill people” and there was the “potential of him conducting a school shooting.”

The agency in a statement admitted receiving a call on Jan. 5, 2018 from a person close to Cruz who contacted the FBI through its Public Access Line tipline to express concerns about Cruz's erratic behavior and disturbing social media posts.

"Under established protocols, the information provided by the caller should have been assessed as a potential threat to life," the statement said. "We have determined that these protocols were not followed for the information received by the PAL on January 5."

In concluded that the caller's information was not forwarded to the Miami FBI field office and "no further investigation was conducted at the time." FBI Director Christopher Wray said the Bureau would review what had happened.

I guess it's extremely time consuming to destroy evidence. Things get overlooked.

Yet people want more rules, when the ones in place currently aren't being followed

Hard to do protect Americans from unhinged lunatics when you are already extremely busy being a political weapon.

Damn.

Not a good look for the FBI at all. I wonder how many calls they get like this.

I guess they must have known this would come out since they are giving it up themselves. I wonder what prompted that. The Bureau is notorious for aggressive PR and burying mistakes like this.

Would Comey call the FBI "grossly negligent" or "extremely careless"??

I know they spend a lot of time covering for criminals and scum bags. Language is important to them.

The same thing happened with the Orlando shooter. FBI and DHS just forgot about him somehow. Hooray for accountability.

People are going to have to say "it connects Trump to Russia" to get their attention.

As did the DHS (although I suspect that was more intentional since they didn't wanna be accused of profiling).
