There is literally a supreme court case on this issue and they ruled against this notion.

The cops do not have an affirmative duty to protect you or society.

I'm surprised you can even hold a job being so naive.

If police are asking you questions that require you to say "lawyer" and nothing else, you've made some really stupid decision in your life, and you're likely a worthless sack of trash to society.

Tell that to all the law abiding men in the Baton Rouge area during the late 90s/early 2000s who just also happened to own white trucks.

It's fascinating to me how cops can convince people that they did something the didn't do if given enough time and pressure.

Have yall seen Making A Murderer on Netflix?

Will blow your fricking mind.

Ive never seen one family get so thoroughly and blatantly railroaded by an entire Department. Two, in fact! And not once but twice!

It was pretty sick shite what LE did to those people.

How often are you questioned by the police about crimes?

If you dont dress like most other people or you do odd things then you will get harassed constantly.

I was illegally detained and searched because I "looked the part". You, know, walking down a walking path. With a coffee in my hand.

I think what made the cop suspicious was that I wear funky work clothes everywhere because I never know when Im going to start working on some shite that requires the attire. I also live in S. LA where, during the winter, it might be 40F in the morning and 80F by the afternoon so I wear a jacket and shorts. That way I can just shed my jacket by noon and I dont have to change out of hot arse jeans. Plus my legs dont get cold. Ever.

Do you know how many bad guys are off the street due to their own stupidity? Why should the police be required to protect people from themselves ? If you're too stupid to realize a cop is lying when he says "no you're better off without an attorney" then that is his problem.

Dumbasses have rights too.

If you had a special needs child, you would be ok with LE having a policy of manipulation and advising the kid not to call his parents or ask for an attorney?

I don't fit the description of criminals. i fit the description of guy that goes to work with a real job, and a dad.
"sir, we spotted a guy wearing normal shorts and not an affliction shirt/wife beater/hoodie, robbing the Target while checking out the milfs with his 7 and 5 year old, fleeing the scene in a Toyota Highlander after safely securing his children in their car seats, and you fit that description, and we have some questions for you"

Where am i going to fit the description of a criminal? at the grocery store? at the soccer fields? at the baseball park? at work? at the gas station where there are cameras everywhere? at my house?

Holy shite.

Youre too stupid to not be a troll.

Please tell me youre a troll.

Yeah I second or third that motion...cops like to ask the same questions a million times to catch you in a lie. So give them ANY reason....They will run with it. Of course not all of them are like that. There are a few bad apples....but no different than fans. I got a DUI once and it was like the swat was there. It was too much!

Were you drinking and driving?
Were you guilty of what you were being questioned about?

If your wife or daughter was raped would you want them to question the perp in the most aggressive way possible?

I'm always blown away when I see video of people freely talking to cops with no lawyer present when being interrogated as suspects.

IDGAF if I'm 100% innocent, have an air tight alibi, and zero motive to do whatever it is they are asking me about. There is no fricking way I talk to cops w/o a lawyer.

Wrong. Police departments protect NO ONE. They only (sometimes) try to arrest someone AFTER a crime has been committed. That someone they arrest many times did not commit the crime, but by concealing evidence, manipulating facts, and simply lying, they can save themselves the time and effort needed to find the real criminal.

One thing cops don't do is protect the public.

I’ve talked my way out of plenty of situations - usually because i could tell the officer didn’t want to go through the hassle. Have to read the situation.
