When you can't grow your subscriber base in a meaningful way through offering increased value, this is where you end up. Increase prices(churn be damned) and roll on.

I've had Netflix forever, even before they offered streaming, and when they did start streaming you had to put a disc in for it to work. I think I'm officially done though. It's just really not worth the money unless you are a fan of the live stuff they're getting into. You can find all of their shows and movies online anyway if you know where to look. It's not worth $20+ a month.

The only advantage to DirTV is that programs can be stored to play.
The whole point of a streaming service is you don't need a storage device.
YouTube TV saves everything you put on your watchlist for a year. They have on-line versions of DVR (recorded as is with commercials) or VOD (video on demand without commercials, or with fewer commercials).

By the time you pay for all the different subscription services you end up paying more than you did when you had cable or satellite tv. Do the math sometime.
Not true, at least for me.
I'm saving $100 / month over what DirecTV was charging, and I have more options available now.

The island kingdom of Tonga hosts a number of great streaming services, they all end in .to instead of .com.
Flixtor has every movie and TV show, and their interface is exceptional; $90 for 2 years. I just renewed for my 2nd 2 year subscription. Bonus: you can favorite movies & TV shows so they are all in one place. When you pause them or turn off your TV, they start up again where you left off, just like on a streaming service.
theTVapp has every channel and specializes in sports broadcasting; 3 months for $45 ($15/month) or 12 months for $100 ($8.33/month).
You can stream both through your smart TV's web browser.
You're welcome.
Side note, I do get Peacock with commercials for free through my Xfinity subscription and Paramount+ with commercials for free with my Walmart+. I get Walmart+ for free through my credit card.

80% of my TV viewing these days is YouTube. I pay for the commercial free version and it’s well worth it.

i have paramount with walmart and i hardly use it. I been kinda burnt out on trying to watching anything right now.

I have zero subscriptions nor cable and life is just fine. There’s enough on TV if I want to watch it.

That Rousey-Carano fight card ain't gonna pay for itself.
Netflix getting into live sports programming is going to cause them to keep raising subscription prices because of how expensive the sports media rights bidding wars get between the networks, now including streaming services.
Netflix now has NFL games on Christmas, WWE, and starting this year they picked up some MLB rights.

Sick of having subscriptions to 4-5 providers and still missing out on all the goods. Anyone here have the high seas equivalent these days?
Serious question, getting older: besides a vpn, what else do you need to stay protected?
Ask yourself the next question. How many total channels do you regularly watch?

quote:I get Netflix with ads, as part of my cell plan. It rarely gets pulled up to watch. If it wasn't included in with my phone, there is no way I'd pay $1 for that shite. They have the shotgun approach, and buy everything they can, and hope for a hit that people are blindly willing to $20/month to watch 10 episodes a year. The rest is pure garbage or reruns of shows made 20-30 years ago by somebody else.
I live overseas, i use my foreign phone #/eSIM to sign up for Netflix premium for $4 per month .. same shows as in America.. only thing is, i hardly ever watch Netflix.. i think the last thing i watched was the Charlie Sheen doc a couple months ago, before that was the Tom Brady Roast, over one year ago.. but at $4 usd per month i just keep it since it’s so cheap .
