Will I have To possibly pay for certain sites?
No. The sites will have to pay. Which they cant. And they'll die.
Or you'll pay and they'll pay but the bigger market share will pay more and they'll die.

I don’t get it. Didn’t Net Neutrality just get established in 2015? Has that much changed in 2 years?
Net neutrality passing in 2015 essentially persevered the internet as you've always known it. There were minor violations of the premise of net neutrality prior to 2015, but things were really starting to ramp up due to cord cutters and what not, so net neutrality was passed to lock in fair access for all.
You'll see bundled internet in the very near future, just like your cable packages are bundled. You want to visit sites off the bundle? You're going to pay out the arse.

Probs not but that the fact the potential exist ons is kinda disappointing

So how soon can I expect the big companies to roll out tiered pricing?
They already have tiered pricing

If you managed to survive Y2K then you will be able to overcome this.

as someone who cut the cord a while ago, it's concerning.
It shouldn't be....you will probably get more options than ever now for OTT services.

and its more about the gradual shift of where things are headed, not just "oh man I mean nothing has really changed since 2015"

Am I going to have to pay to visit ESPN now?
I should be grandfathered in because of my fantasy team.

Correct. This was a massive win for the cable companies and a massive loss for innovation and the internet. And the excitement some of you have over end of the open internet is concerning to say the least.

If you really want the internet to survive then you should want more competition in the ISP market. You should be calling your reps and telling them to cut the Gov red tape it takes to establish an ISP. The Gov literally kills competition then they feel they have to establish a law like NN to cover their frick up.

so how will this impact things like streaming services? Will directtv(att) and other companies now be able to basically block the streaming services like Vue or sling and force us back into high priced cable/satellite?

This is oversimplifying it greatly. As a business owner, I want the Gov involved as little as possible in the way I operate
Sure stout, but do you operate a natural monopoly?
You can't liken internet service providers to the general contractor business.

People with “free market” responses are so fricking dumb. Look around. There is no free market in telecommunications and utilities. There are two internet providers in BR, and ATT doesn’t even service everywhere. Cox is now in completely in charge of what about half of BR can access on the internet.
There will be no competition. Iqbal and Twombly saw to that. The big companies won’t infringe on each other’s territory and it will be impossible to prove collusion. It’s half infuriating half hilarious that everyone crowing about the defeat of gov’t regulations and no gov’t control or super fine with huge global corporations responsible to no one with no required transparency running their lives
fricking exactly SFP. Blind “deregulate everything sheep” trying to defend this like telecommunications giants and ISP are equivalent to grocery stores or whatever where a natural free market can work are blind. And don’t study history. We literally learned 100 years ago that complete deregulation results in monopolies that kill the free market. Enter Teddy Roosevelt and trust busting.
But people are falling for the same Reaganomivs trickle down bullshite as always, “give us super rich corporations way more money and we’ll give you a better product.” bullshite. They’ll give a better product if you can pay out the arse. Most people will the same internet experience at a higher cost

Fine, but can't we keep net neutrality until ISPs operate in a truly competitive market?

Which ISP is a monopoly in today's world? Most people have options unless they live in BFE.

There is a reason that over 90% of the Apps on everybodies smart phone is by an American company.
Because everyone and every company offering a product or content has equal access and use of the internet in the same playing field.
That’s about to change.
For the worse.

It would only pay for other ISPs to create their own OTT services with this announcement.
