probably would prefer the Google option b/c I'm pretty much in their ecosystem, but the fact that we already have Alexas makes that the likely best choice.

You know you can buy some google mini’s for dirt cheap, right? I wouldn’t base your decision on the cheapest component of a system

I’m about to change out my skybell and replace with a blink doorbell.

News article about it

quote:

“We get a call from someone who says they’re 13 years old, gives the name of the people who live there, and says he just shot and killed his father. So, we get there, we start giving verbal commands, commands over the speaker, knocking on the door. We actually see somebody crawling on the floor and we assume it’s the homeowner who’s been shot,” said Mancuso.

Is that part true? Did they really see someone crawling on the floor?

That's just a wild story, and I don't believe I could go back to using those type systems after all of that.

Same for Arlo.

Yep. The amount of time it takes for my Arlo app to open and then the live camera to start playing drives me insane. It also misses stuff all the time.

have the pro doorbell and the clarity is only good within 10 yards at best. To zoom in, is non existent regarding clarity. My phone has a better camera in it….

Of course your phone has a better camera. Why is this a gripe. Doorbell cameras have purely digital zoom

Thanks, I did not know about the rapid ring app. Installed it and it makes a huge difference.

am going with the new Blink doorbell because I already have the blink cameras and don't want to spend money to switch to another system right now.

I just installed 2 blinks and have been impressed. Much cheaper and no subscription unless you want to store video.

Added an indoor camera just to check in on dogs and yell at them to get off the couch. A lot cheaper option unless you’re aiming for the whole system.

Yeah, I laughed at that post myself. That guy would 100% lock his car doors if he got off at my exit.

Funny. Bought the Nest today. Best Buy dropped them back to one $149 for the wire version.

If going the sub route I was going Ring.

Went Eufy instead. Very happy with how it works. If you have good internet it gets good reviews. Ton of add-ons and monitoring available.

Installed the Nest a few days ago. Very nice picture and you were right about it picking up people before they turned around.

I have a 2 year old ring. Overall works well. Sometimes will not notify me that someone is caught with notification, but then corrects itself, but it always records it.

I have Nest doorbell, speaker, and thermostat. All have been great so far.

Going to get the google hub shortly.

It's a doorbell, not a security cam. If you want security cams, they're out there.
