I don't know why this is a new epidemic. The neon Open signs have been around forever. I live in a small town and no businesses had one 10-20 years ago. They had a hanging sign, or that black plastic you slide up and down or whatever. But now all the local businesses have the neon or light up one and almost all of them leave them on all the time past closing hours. It's truly ridiculous, I drive around at night and 10 of the 12 business will be all blacked out except the glowing Open sign. What is this about? Is everyone lazy? Do they think they are discouraging break ins? I really think about going around methodically and writing it all down for a solid week and bringing it to the city council. They need to be warned and then fined after repeat offenses. It is trashy and it's false advertising.

Huh, the open signs have been around forever.

Now I don’t remember people leaving them on all night but the signs being there, certainly

They've been around forever but it seems more places have them now just in the last 10 years or so. And leaving them on all the time is rampant now

I mean I'm ok with that. It is strange. But it also is something new I've noticed repeatedly and want answers. I'll be ok, don't worry

Those are massage parlors.

You don’t go to those for a pulled muscle. You go to get your muscle pulled.

I get really pissed off when I see people parking on the driveway and driving on the Parkway.

Could be lazy or maybe they just want ppl to know the business isn't shuttered. Small businesses don't last long. Especially in "strip malls".

The pull chain on/off switches break easy. Better safe than sorry once they are on.

Plus, it drives Gumps crazy and they can’t stop thinking about my haberdashery.

Wow. Maybe next we can get our government involved in jailing people for speaking ill of our leaders. Hey Comrade! Good plan.

This would be something to get upset about if it was 1970 and Google Maps didn't exist. Do you even have a mobile device bro?

Ever since Sam's & Costco started carrying them for $50, every mom and pop has stepped up the "Open/Closed" technology....

Keeping them perpetually ON is just an indicator of the indifference of today's workforce...

Must not be much else going on in Mayberry if you are getting jacked up over a sign being left in.

Calm down, Barney. It's just a sign.

Purchase a bunch of outlet timers. Visit the store owners and explain how it makes them look lazy and confuses customers. Sell one to each of them at a profit. Now you’re part of a solution that makes you money.
