My wife and I have two dogs, both around 35 pounds. We live in a duplex house in Dallas and our neighbor has a dog that’s about 45 pounds. He is pretty standoffish in general and never lets his dog out in the backyard while we are out there. Today, we found out why.

My wife was letting our dogs piss before we left the house to go take care of things for today. I heard screams and ran outside to find the neighbors dog have one of my dogs pinned to the ground by the throat. I’ve seen dogs wrestle before, but nothing like this. That dog was trying to kill mine. His idiot girlfriend let the dog into the backyard without checking. Me, my wife, and neighbor finally were able to pull the dogs apart. My dog shite on me because she was so scared and my wife got some bites on her hand. Neighbors hand was pretty fricked up from ripping his dog off.

Neighbor has offered to cover all vet and medical costs. I’m still furious. What’s my next move, baws?

TL;DR - Neighbor is banging an idiot woman with a POS dog that got out.

1. Call animal welfare to see if that dog can be put down.
2. Call attorney to file claim against neighbor's homeowners insurance.

Have him pay as he offered. If your wife’s hands are fricked up, either go to court or whip his arse. Lastly, build a fence, drink a beer, then frick his girlfriend.

If they don’t put that dog down, that won’t be the last time it does something like that

Not a lawyer, but pretty sure if he's covering all the expenses then there is nowhere to go from here. I wouldn't hold it against your neighbor or really the girlfriend either. They didn't bite your dog and may not have known it was even an issue. This is life. shite happens.

That’s what I’m thinking. The fact that he NEVER lets his dog around ours tells me he knew it would act like that. Which is what makes me even more mad.

If it's a shared backyard I don't expect there's any actual liability on his end.

Unfair he has to pay just because his dog is a winner. Your dog lost fair and square. Your other dog should have jumped in.

Sounds like a shared back yard in a rented property. You both have rights to the backyard which would mean the liability would rest on the landlord IMO. You are lucky he offered to pay vet bills for your dog and wife.
I'm not a lawyer and this is only my opinion.

What’s the exact issue?

Dogs fight. Y’all broke it up. No one has any injuries or should need medical attention.

Get the frick over it

Take gobs of peanut butter and mix it with a couple poison pills, throw it over the fence. That should take care of your neighbor...........
