I have a package unit that’s nearing full term…I’m frightened. Even with a brother in law that owns his own HVAC company

I just replaced one of my 5 ton units. Variable speed Trane, cost about $20k.
I ain’t worried about the cost. This is the OT, after all.
shite that sucks. Mine is a 5 ton Trane too. It's a 2012. I hope it lasts until I'm out of this house

Something special about Ponchatula baw? That seems too low. I’m in Baton Rouge. Although I was quoted $8k, I figured I could get a new one for $7k.

Nothing special about here. The guy I used was recommended by my cousin who knows him pretty well. I know he just went and did a repair in Baton Rouge yesterday for his cousin but I don't know if he generally goes that far. I can find out if you are interested.

Thats funny my guy just came by my house yesterday and picked up my old condenser to take to BR. I gave to him to help someone out who was in a financial bind. He wanted to give me something for it. The way I look at it you help ppl when you can and I wasn't losing anything by giving to him.

average ticket for residential replacements is around 11k where i live....(per an industry average).. IE name brand units... like sure carrier/bryant/payne are all owned by the same organization. (bryant parts fit in carrier units)...

I just got 4 units taken out and put in daikin units. 40k
Posted on 5/19/22 at 11:27 pm to trussthetruzz
I installed 2 mini split units for around 2k total. Central unit quotes were insane.

Just added 4lbs freon to mine today- 14 years old. I hope I’m not in the same boat as you soon, but I’m pretty sure I will be. Trying to hold off 1 more year.
