Need to make an offer on a 2017 Highlander

Would it be an insult to offer 20% below MSRP. 2018's are out so it's a year old model.

Had a loaner that was a 16’ highlander. I really liked the car and woukd buy one, but it would be for my so or wife.

On a serious note. Wife and I went down to the dealer to test drive a 2017 Highlander Limited. Ole boy never even played like he was going to sell it at MSRP. Came off about 8-10% just like that. Didn't buy but found it an interesting tactic for sure. They apparently look to make their money off warranties, internal financing, etc.
