Don't know about your Toyota dealership, but the one here won't deal in the first go-round. We just bought a new car (not a Toyota) after a 3 hour debacle that started when they called my house and said they had some new, great trade-in incentives for my old 2004 Highlander.
Wanted to downsize our ride, so we went to look at what they had and settled on a Corolla model (no, not a Camry, not sexy, but serviceable) - then the games began.
The Finance mgr said because our trade was in great shape body and interior wise, but had 180,000 miles and was the age it was, blah-blah-blah, they were generous in offering us $500.00 for it. The sales rep had already made the mistake of bring up on her computer screen the book value of our old car in the range of $3000-$4600. Plus we had done some web research ahead of time and had an idea of what to expect. I told this finance manager not to insult us with these low numbers, that I could bring it over to CarMax and sell it on the spot for at least 3-4 times as much. He pretended surprise, thought he would call our bluff and said something like "good luck - hope you can." So we got up and started out - he suddenly said maybe they could give us $1500 - but would have to take out the $1500 year end additional incentive to justify doing the. We left.
Next day one of their higher up managers called and came up with a $3000 trade in offer. Too late, we'd already bought a new Mazda 3 that we liked better, for less cost to begin with and a $2500 trade on our Highlander.
I wouldn't ever deal with Gettel Toyota in Bradenton - told them this is the first time in over 30 + years that we didn't own at least one Toyota. Lost us as customers.
Back to original question on the offer - do it. They may say no, or they may surprise and accept. Depends on how hungry they are as a dealership, I think.

I bought my '17 Tundra in June and the '18s came out a couple months later. I was able to get 16% off MSRP at that point. I don't think think 20% is out of the question, but do you homework. Make sure you know what they paid for it and if they are a dealership based on number vehicle sales or dollar amount of sales. Typically you get better deals at a volume dealer.

Toyota's are nice vehicles, but I've never bought one because of limited small rebates and little room to negotiate.

After the August flood we replaced 2 vehicles. My GF wanted a Highlander but after comparing several different vehicles the KIA SLT Sorrento was the hands down winner. Do yourself a favor and drive it - without a doubt the SLT is a Korean version of a BMW. Outstanding vehicle.

shite I just looked it up. Adrian Paul is actually only like 58 now. Dude could probably pull it off unless he went Steven Seagal and doubled up.
