I'm not sure if y'all are familiar with the ghost of Guste Island.

I lived in Guste Island for 3+ years. I’ve seen the apparition of the woman. I did not stop or get close to her. I think engaging anything like this is just asking for trouble.

When I lived in the area and neighborhoods were popping up left and right, I herd of a clearing crew that stumbled upon a section of property (not in Guste Island but around that area) that creeped out the crew so much that they literally walked off the job because they refused to any further work on the property.

Can't sleep and that Guste Island woman story took me down a google rabbit hole. I've never experienced something like that, but I'm in awe of it. Would love to hear from other people who've encountered her.

My latest addition to this thread isn't as frightening and I would describe it as more of an odd experience. About a year and a half ago I'm sitting at the Charlotte airport just waiting to board my flight home. I arrived early and after about 45 minutes of checking work emails, I decided I needed a mental break so I start chatting up this mid-50s-ish woman sitting a seat apart from me to kill the time.

We started to converse and she was very warm
and friendly. Most of the conversation was mundane--talked about families and jobs. She was in Charlotte visiting her sister. That kind of thing. Then we started taking about how stressful life could be and her "new age" persona came out. She was talking about energy and a bunch of other stuff I write off as mumbo jumbo, so the conversation starts to taper off.

Things are silent for a few minutes and she turns back to me and asked, "Does the number 46 mean anything to you?" I gave it a few seconds of thought before responding negatively. She followed that question up with, "Maybe a female relative? A sick relative who died around that age?" I'm sure I had a WTF look on my face but I politely responded that no one came to mind. Of course, I then asked what prompted the question.

She told me that she felt a presence next to me, very specifically on my left side. That presence was a diseased woman who was draining my energy/aura/whatever-the-frick in an attempt to make herself well. All I could think to say was "Well, I have been feeling extra tired lately." She then slips me a business card and it turns out she's got some spiritualist thing going in Cassadaga, FL. After that, we wished each other a good flight and that was the end of our interaction.

I guess she was just drumming up businesses. I never called. I hope she was full of it because, if not, I've got some energy-draining sick lady at my hip.

I’ve been following this thread since it began. I actually have a fairly recent story to add.

A little over 3 years ago, my wife and I bought a new house. Just before we closed on the house, a friend of mine who is a realtor (but not my realtor) said “Hey, I am not trying to mess up your plans to buy that house, but I think that you should know that the people selling that house had a daughter who committed suicide there a long time ago.”

Not good news to me, but I decide it isn’t going to stop me from buying the house. I tell my wife. She’s a little freaked out, but says she can get over it. We both decide not to tell any of our kids - one 4th grader and twin 3rd graders.

We move in and one of my 3rd grader twins picks the daughter who committed suicide’s old bedroom. Again, my daughter knows nothing about what happened in there.

I don’t remember if it was THE first night or if it was ONE OF the first nights, but either way, my daughter came downstairs and woke my wife and me and said she was scared because there was a girl in her room with blood running down her face saying that my daughter is in her room.

I didn’t know it until I checked on it later, but the girl who committed suicide did it with a shotgun - in that room.

The next day I looked through the previous owners Facebook page and saw old pictures of their daughter. Then asked my daughter to describe the girl in her room. Everything was a perfect match.

No sightings or anything since, but there is no way to explain how my daughter saw what she saw having no knowledge of what happened 5 years before we moved in.

I too have followed this thread for a long time.

figured I would share my story now.

my wife's brother was killed (police report says accidental shooting, the actual facts are unclear to this day) about 15 years ago. when Google Street view first came out of my wife's childhood home shortly after that, her brother was clearly in his bedroom window. she took a screen shot and saved it to her 8computer.

fast forward a couple years to when we started dating, and she showed me the picture. it was him clear as day. I was telling a friend of mine about it a few days later, and got on street view to show him and he wasn't in the window anymore. ok, they re-photographed the street, right? except all the trees, leaves, clouds, everything was exactly the same in her saved picture and the current online one. but he wasn't there anymore.

Years ago my wife when she was about 13, her favorite grandmother, was living with her at the time but had gone to the hospital for her dying stages of cancer.
The grandmother had been in the hospital for a few days then my wife says she was met in her bedroom one night with her grandmother in front of her saying that she’s alright now, everything will be fine.
About an hour later her parents come in the bedroom to tell her that grandmother had just passed away.

No. We still live here. That's the only incident.

She slept with us that night, but yes, eventually. Now, it's my sons room. He hasn't seen anything.

ETA: Or, if he has, he hasn't told me about it. I am obviously not going to bring it up to him.

. You should post the image that contains your late bro in law. I’m sure we’d all love to see it!

Anyone have their own thoughts on the footsteps series? Was the crazy stalker guy the narrator’s dad?

Not to ruin your story, but there may be a perfectly good explanation for that. Google brought out a technology in 2008 that blurs out faces.

Holy shite, I don’t even remember seeing that story. That’s a great one for this thread, and legit creepy as frick. Scary how crazy some people are out there in the world, and sometimes a lot closer than we’d like to think.

I may have to reread this thread soon. I’m sure there are some good ones that I may have forgotten about.

Ok tell me what page this one is on. You got my curiosity up but don’t feel like scrolling thru 86 pages. TIA.

I don’t really have one that’s super scary or maybe it’s just not scary to me because I lived it.

Does anyone remember the mental institution across from Fountainbleau State Park in Mandeville. It was called Southeast Louisiana Hospital. It’s something different now. But I grew up there. Not in the institution haha. There was a small neighborhood in there for doctors and their families to live for free. That’s where I lived until I was 18. Honestly, it was an amazing childhood.

My house is red x, red circle is patch of woods where we played hide n go seek, blue circle is the neighborhood.

Story 1
We used to play every year on my birthday (which is Tuesday and why I’m reminded of this story) hide n go seek at night. My brothers, sisters, sister in laws, sisters boyfriends, buddies, etc would all play while my mom and dad sat around our fire pit in the back yard. I always had to start off by going inside for 5 minutes to give everyone a chance to hide in that patch of woods. Then I’d go and search with a flashlight. The rules were you had to physically catch someone, then they were on your team. So this particular night, I had caught one of my brothers and decided that our strategy would be for me to sit down, flashlight off and he would try to flush someone to me. Because a strategy of the hiders was also to move around in the dark to try and put distance between them and the seekers. You would always do this without a flashlight so you wouldn’t give away your location. So I’m sitting there, my brother is on the other side of the woods and I hear someone walking towards me. I get excited thinking I’m about to catch someone but I don’t move. They get closer. I want to make sure I catch them so I’m waiting until they’re right upon me. Finally I feel they’re close enough. Probably 6’ away. I turn my flashlight towards the walking and flick it on. It’s not one of my brothers or sisters. Not one of my friends. It’s not anyone I know. It’s an escaped patient. Just standing there, staring into the flashlight. Probably hopped up on lithium but I didn’t stand around to find out. I screamed and ran to my house. Told my parents what happened. Only my brother who was seeking with me came out of the woods. Patient then came out over to the fire pit and my dad called the guards. They came over and got him. We continued to play. Like I said. We lived experiences like this and it wasn’t really a big deal to see a patient walking around our neighborhood but it was spooky for sure in the moment.

My son just woke up and wants to go outside and make a fire so I’ll update this with a few more later if anyone wants to hear them.
