Back when my kids were younger we owned a Honda Odyssey and then a Chrysler Town & Country.

The Odyssey was one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. Say what you want about minivans but those automatic doors came in clutch when your hands are full of baby carriers and groceries. It was also built on the same chassis as the Honda Accord giving it a car-like ride.

Both minivans were fantastic long distance drivers. We made frequent cross country trips to visit family.

My point is Minivan = SUV - some of the functionality. Literally no one drives their SUV off-road so the ride height, which pretty much doesn't exist anymore, was useless and now everyone wants third rowseating...soooo they're minivans. I have no problems with either, i just think minivans are at least more functional.

I love our explorer. It has three rows and a front facing actually fits back there. Gets great gas mileage and hasn't had an issue in 80k miles. If I need more room like at Christmas, I bring the truck.

I would like the sliding doors of a van and the middle captain seats would be nice but would lose a seat

Look, that thing is a van...it works perfectly as a van. The other things you posted are completely useless, and horribly styled high top cars. I think people who buy those think they look tough, or sporty...and that exposes their sense of style.

The van driver wants a van, so be it. Those crossovers were made for fat Americans with terrible taste.

As opposed to what? Something equally as practical, such as an SUV or crossover, that doesn't look completely ridiculous.

You know what else is practical? A satchel. There's a reason you shouldn't carry one around. Same reason you shouldn't be driving a minivan.

SUVs are nowhere near the level of practicality as a minivan when it comes to kids.

Stick with an odyssey and wait a few months for the new models come out, there will be lots of trade ins and people selling their used ones. If the timing belt/ water pump hasn't been changed make sure to use that when negotiating because that's about $1000

My wife hates minivans, and I find them to be extremely practical. So much for that theory of yours.

So your wife made you believe you are one-upping her by getting a mini-van? She check-mated the frick out of you. Lulz

A Tahoe or suburban wouldn't do the trick? Honestly?

I dive an Expedition right now actually, but thanks for further proving that you care so much about what people think about what you drive.
Damn. You are as sensitive as menopausal woman. Good luck with your butt hurt.

Luckily my wife is staunchly opposed to us ever buying a minivan.

Her mom car will be my 2016 Subaru Outback in a few years when we start having kids, which is a fricking great car.

I'm the sensitive one because I don't define myself by what I drive? I think you're confused.

Now you're just acting like a sensitive tool. Do you work in the mini-van industry or something. Jeez. Get a real life.

I get it. Been there. My wife and I were anti vans. Then our oldest kid (4y/o) had trouble opening her door on our SUV on a windy day and put an 8" dent in the car next to us while the people were in it.

If an SUV had a sliding door, I'd be all over it. Oh wait, then it'd be a van, haha.

Vans don't look cool (well odyssey and sienna kinda do) but the comfort for traveling is so worth it. On a long trip, we take the front console out so the passenger can just walk to the back of the van to help (or discipline) the kids without having to stop and get out. Don't buy a van without a removable front console.

You sure are throwing around a lot of insults for supposedly not being the one that's worked up. Just saying. You're irrationally angry because someone finds something practical.
