Prayers for your dad. It sucks for 2-3 weeks but after that its not too bad.

Glad to hear he's doing well! My mom just went through a triple bypass and a mechanical aortic valve replacement at Emory.

Great news. Make sure he gets his rest and doesn't try to do too much. My dad is stubborn as a mule. We had to scold his arse cause he was trying to build a deer stand 2 weeks after his surgery and it was September.

I had open heart surgery in July to replace two valves, it's amazing what can be done. Recovery wasn't fun, especially the first 6 weeks or so because you can't push or pull with your arms as the sternum is still healing. Definitely do all you can to get him into a dedicated cardiac rehab program, my recovery has been phenominal due to the 3 months of supervised cardiac rehab I did and have continued to do on my own.

Just seeing this now, and you posted he's in recovery, but still prayers for his full recovery. Lost my Dad almost a year ago.

Great news!

Now, your job is to make sure the stubborn so-and-so (I'm just assuming here) does everything thing the docs and staff tell him he needs to do during recovery. He may get ornery, but he needs to follow those directions.

I will say another prayer for a quick and uneventful recovery!
