A friend at work has a daughter who has made some poor choices that have really fricked up her life. The good news is she's been working to get back on track and making progress. But, she needs a reliable car to get to/from work and has saved $3k in cash. She doesn't care about make/model.

Unfortunately, I don't know where a person might find an old cream puff car these days. Any recommendations other than Facebook marketplace? Or better yet, do you know someone with an old yet reliable car they'd like to sell?

$3k total is pretty low. Does she have the ability to use that as a down payment and finance some?

Yes. She says she has good credit but doesn't want much of a note. She mentioned if she's talked into a note, she'd want it less than $150/month.

I could probably find her something. Link her Instagram so I can get in touch with her to discuss

Look for a early-mid 2000s Toyota Corolla.

The totality of your approach here relies on her making at least one more mistake in her life...

She could finance a $10k car over 5 years with $3k down around $150 a month.

If she has made mistakes and is trying to get her life turned around, why take on any debt at all?

For how many months? Big difference between 36 and 84.

You could definitely find a decent Corolla for around $3000 if you look hard enough.
