quote:I'm sure this has all been stated above, but...
I am currently around 210# and would like to lose about 15#'s.
use an app like Lose It/MyFitnessPal and make yourself track calories. Once you get it set up and use it for a week or so, it takes only seconds per meal.
quote:yes you do. make small changes. look up some "at work" exercises. get some ankle weights and resistance bands. take more stairs, etc.
I really do not have time to exercise due to work and kids evening commitments.
quote:the chocolate could actually help you. start getting darker and darker. Anything under 86% cacao is too sweet for me now. those are good fats. your coffee: 2 "spoons" of sugar is a shite ton. go black. you won't go back.
About 3 weeks ago I tried cutting out as much sugar as I could out of my diet. I now only get about 2 spoons of pure sugar with my coffee in the morning and that is it. I used to be a soft drink a day and chocolate at night person.
quote:as noted above, cut out the muffin. once you feel you're off the starch craving, add back in a slice of sprouted bread every now and then. but mostly cut it out. Lose the cheese (for now) and add an avocado. add a grapefruit. what kind of ham? probably has sugar and lots of salt. Costco sells an uncured low-sodium Canadian bacon that's great. What kind of eggs--try to get some farm fresh, cage-free, organic eggs. Taste much better and have a lot more nutrients. Also, vary your breakfast to get in some different nutrients.
Breakfast: egg, ham and cheese on english muffin breakfast sandwich, cup of coffee
quote:great. keep.
Snack: Apple
quote:
Lunch: rotisserie chicken, 1/2 can of beans, handful of peanuts
that rotisserie chicken is likely a sodium bomb and is probably basted with a sugar product. If your peanuts are Planters or similar--same. look at the ingredients on a jar of "peanuts." You don't have to cut out the beans. But again, look at the ingredients. And count calories.
quote:apples are terrific, but I'd add in another "superfruit" like almonds. Raw almonds. lots of them.
Snack: apple
quote:pasteurized milk isn't good for you. try to find raw or just cut it out. drink some green tea (no sugar) with lemon. you might be eating too many beans, come to think of it. banana at night with zero exercise during the day may not be the best choice among fruits, but better than processed sugar for dessert.
Dinner: a meat/fish/chicken, 1/2 can of beans and milk
snack: banana
quote:stay hydrated obviously, but there is no magical high dose of water that is going to help you lose weight or "feel full." it's all about carb/sugar cravings.
I try to drink about 80oz of water a day as well
quote:
I have not lost one pound in three weeks from this change????
again, count calories. are you drinking alcohol? don't. add in simple exercises on the fly. i mean, can't you at least drop and give yourself 20 pushups?
quote:what did you change from? Apart from the sugah drank?
Starting to get frustrated. I thought I would at least lose a few pounds just from changing my eating habits.

Yeah, no
To OP:
Keep total sugar below 30g. No sugar from processed food. Lots of veggies. Clean protein. Healthy fats. Since it sounds like you're not very active I would recommend a fitness tracker Track how many steps you're getting in a day. Really need to be above 10k

Don't listen to people telling you to skip the fruit servings, that is terrible advice.
This, sugar from fruit is fine(1-2 servings). People are trying to split hairs and it doesn't pertain to the OP's needs.

wtf does that mean? the man asked how he can drop 15 lbs without exercising and i told him based on the little input he gave (which hasn't worked a bit for him in three weeks).
what's your sage advice? eat what you want in whatever portions you want, get fat and die or crossfit?

I'll echo what's been said. Everyone has time to exercise. Also, replace the muffin and beans with vegetables. You should also drink more water.

Lots of veggies
yeah, this was conspicuously absent from each meal.
i keep washed and easily accessible: celery, broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, pickles (from farmer's market--not the kind with a bunch of shite added--which is most every kind from the store under $10 a jar), etc. Hummus, feta, almond butter, or peanut butter (no sugar added), to go with it, sometimes.
to OP: fermented foods are good too. tasty.

Oh, and if you want to lose weight, just start counting calories.

You pretty much nailed it. OP, take this advice. You can also check into intermittent fasting (consuming all of your calories in a time window such as 10am-6pm) as a source of natural fat burning and honestly just getting up 45 mins earlier in the morning and going on a fasted walk can really make a difference in how you burn body fat. Then again, if you have 45 mins to walk, you have 45 mins to lift as well. High fat and protein (bacon and eggs) and cutting out as much sugar and processed carb will make the body fat fly off. Do not pay attention to the scale, rather pay attention to how your clothes fit, how you look in the mirror and overall how you feel.

You should drink 100 oz. or more a day of water.
I've been told to drink 1/2 your weight (in ounces) of water.
Start keeping tabs on everything you eat.
With a Fitbit, you can track your activity as well as log the food you take in.
Don't weigh yourself every day. It just adds to the frustration.

lol. i'm a little slow this am. i should've known by the
and leg weights are better than sitting behind a desk wanking it. Actually, no, wanking it "moderately to intensely" burns 35 calories on average.
your properly addressed letter is sitting by the door btw waiting on a stamp. talk about 1980s.

I'm not sure of your exact situation, but I can guarantee you that you can find 20-30 minutes a day to do something.

very true. at 210-ish, your body weight can fluctuate markedly just due to water retention. And weight loss/fitness takes a while to build momentum.
I'm weighing in Sunday, for the first time after three weeks of getting my head out of my arse. Will report. But my clothes already fit WAY better and I don't feel like a bloated sack o doodoo.

My guess is you are eating too much fat too lose weight. Your body needs a balance of protein, fat and carbs. Carbs are needed for energy but should be regulated. 15 grams of carbs are considered one serving. For breakfast you should have 5 servings of carbs, for lunch 4 servings and for dinner 4 servings. Get them from fruit, veggies, bread etc but try to avoid carbs from things like donuts and soft drinks. Also have 1 snack serving of carbs for morning or after dinner from fruit, popcorn, cheese and crackers, etc. When eating a carb snack, eat some nuts or peanut butter which has fat content to balance your sugar/carb intake. Most people on no carb or very low carb diets feel weak all the time due to their body needing the carbs for energy. The key is to regulate the carbs and balance. The sugar pikes with some fat to keep your enemy levels up. Limit protein and fat to 4-5 ounces of meat per meal. Many veggies contain carbs so, they are not limitless like cucumbers and green beans.
I got this from a nutritionist and it works great. Lots of food and great results. It's all online in one form or another. Oh yeah, hit the gym4-5 times a week for an hour. The weight will come off fine.

Losing weight is a math equation.
The human body burns ~1,200 calories a day JUST BEING ALIVE...
If you put in less calories than your body burns, you will lose weight..
IT'S frickING LOGIC.
Anyone who says that it's "unhealthy", can go frick themselves.

so you can eat only 6 snickers bars a day and lose weight?
i wonder if this has been tested.

If you don't know how many calories you are eating how do you expect to lose weight? There is no magic food or combination of food that helps you lose weight.

False.
He/she is eating too many calories. You can eat nothing but fat and lose weight if you are eating under maintenance. And you don't need all those carbs. At all.
