We went about 13 years back. My niece was throwing the ball with the owners dog and the ball went down a fenced off well and the dog followed. The fire dept was able to get the dog out but it was too late and it died. One of the few freaky things to happen that day/night.

[quote]Do you have the freedom at night (as a guest of the plantation) to roam throughout the house?

No...you can roam to your car and back to your cabin. Maybe you will see "Chloe" near a tree in the gravel parking lot.

Did you get a chance to converse with other guests throughout the night?

This is not a swingers club.

And how soundproof are the walls and doors?

Good lord son. This is a plantation house with small cabins. What the hell u plan on doing? You will more than likely be next to some blue hair from Dallas who goes to bed at 8:00pm.

My wife scares easily.

I'd like to be able to keep her mind occupied and distracted for at least a couple of minutes.

Did you or your significant other experience anything that could be classified as paranormal?

I experienced something I could not explain when I stayed in one of the new cabins. I stayed in a cabin with a couple of people. Yes, if you stay in the cabins you can roam the grounds at night for a long as you like. We brought an ice chest and drank on the porch once the sun went down. The cabin beds have some really thin blankets and scratchy sheets, there is a frequently- traveled road behind the cabins, and the central heat is really loud. I had one of my worst night's sleep there.

The major unexplained thing that happened to us was a really loud noise in the middle of the night. It sounded like a stack of books were being dropped from chest high directly onto the floor. It was loud enough that it woke up myself and another person in the room. I knew it wasn't the heater kicking on.

We took the last tour of the night and the first tour of the morning. We learned about Chloe in the evening tour, and how she likes to play tricks on people and steals earrings. On the evening tour there was no earring in the teacup. When we took the morning tour I peeked into the room before the group entered to see if there was going to be a an earring in the teacup. Although there wasn't an earring in the teacup, someone pointed out that there was a single earring next to the saucer. It was fun and "freaky". The other freaky thing was a silhouette of a head and shoulders on the wall in the day bedroom on the first floor. I pointed it out to the tourguide at night, and she said it happens from time to time. I watched to see if it was just a shadow being cast my someone or thing in the room, but I watched people walk by and the silhouette did not move and other shadows moved over it.

Is it better to stay in the "main" part of the house? I imagine there would be other couples hanging out?

Or just ask another couple to come with us and stay in a garden room or cottage?

It's one of the best B&Bs I've ever stayed at. And the evening tour b4 bed is awesome. Took a girlfriend back in college and would suggest it to. Everyone

Stayed with my family in main house years ago. On this night there was a group of people talking on the patio around 10:00pm and a group of young girls just walked over to their cabin close to the patio. I saw a rake in the yard by the patio. Me and my son grabbed the rake snuck around the side of the cabin and scratched on their shutter. These girls ran out screaming back to the patio. The crowd freaked out and dispersed. We laughed all night!!! Those girls probably didn't sleep a wink!!

we had to deal with a poltergeist.

The SO was scratched on her arm, and I was raped.

Stay in one of the cottages at Butler-Greenwood a few miles away. They're fabulous. Take the tour at The Myrtles.

Was down in St. Francisville just this past weekend. Nice little town and beautiful plantation homes.

I like the Myrtles; stayed in the Ruffin Sterling room once. Nothing weird. I have a friend who stayed and woke up in the middle of the night with the chandelier in their room swinging back and forth. I don't like how they push some of the b.s. stories though. There was enough real tragedy and death in the house. They don't need to be bullshitting people about Chloe and the dude dying on the stairs.

This may actually work. Wife has said repeatedly that she won't spend the night at The Myrtles. So ... a tour and dinner at The Francis could be an option. And breakfast the next morning after our overnight stay the Butler-Greenwood.

I do not recommend the restaurant. I ordered a grilled shrimp salad but they were really sautéed. They still expected me to pay 50%. Will not be going back

I wouldn't eat there, either. All of their food is burnt.

SO and I stayed in the General Bradford Suite 4 years ago. It was a pretty cool night. I would recommend that room...but as others have said not the restaurant.

I went on a tour a few years ago. It wrapped up in the kitchen/dining area and I noticed all these creepy portraits on the wall. When everyone started leaving, I asked the tour guide who was on all the portraits...his response:

"Ah those are just random portraits to really make the place seem creepy."

Also, throughout the tour I noticed some lights flashing outside like it was lightning or something. When we left, I noticed some lights outside that just come on/off real quick every so often.

It's all BS.

Dude, the place isn't haunted. They make a lot of money on people thinking its haunted.
