I’ve been working on the railroad for the past eight years. At the moment, I’m close to getting furloughed. I have an opportunity to go to school, and I’m looking for info on associate degrees or something technical.

Any info helps. It doesn’t have to be an associate degree. It can be something technical as well. I just don’t want to go to a 4 year college.

All the livelong day, or just to pass the time away?

I don't think I've ever worked with anybody who had an associates' degree, in a 30-year career.

So... ITI? Medical Training College? Dental hygienist?

Before you quit the railroad for an associates degree, do some research. You probably already make more money than you ever would with a 2 year degree.

What kind of info? Find a school that offers what you want to go in, apply.. But going to a tech school is better than an associates degree.

Seriously though, contact a community college in your area. They have technical and vocational programs that can lead to an A.A.S. Degree. Good luck!
