Do you really need a SUV or you just want to be cool and have one?
Why is it a question of need?

If it is a need what will you do with it?
Hopefully piss off twerps that think "need" has to play a roll in every decision an adult makes.

Whatever it is not this. Probably the ugliest SUV on the road...

I'll likely never own another. My 08 Tahoe LT is just low quality crap. Dash cracked, buttons peel, and the list goes on.

4 Runner, have a 2012 limited and love it. The new limited has the same body style as mine but the SR5 & trail editions front end looks a little funky

When we were in the market for one last year the only ones we liked were the Dodge Durango and grand Cherokee (same platform)... This was before the new tahoes came out though. We test drove all of the models in that price range and narrowed it to those

Tahoe if you have lots of kids. And don't care about MPG.
Grand Cherokee is the best drive, not even close.
4 runner is good, lots of utility and things to make your life easier. Also a gas hog.

I'm getting one around this time next year. I've narrowed it down to Pathfinder or Highlander. I want the third row but nothing to big.

4Runner, Cherokee,,,,,,,,,,,,GM anything. From tbe Tahoe to smaller SUV's I've experienced nothing but fail. From tbe paint peeling to the dash breaking and all gauges going out. Of your in love with the room and can afford to fix or upgrade every 2 yrs go for it. We now have a 4Runner and while it's not loaded to the gills, it's stout and reliable. It was bought in 2011 brand new and when clean looks like the day we purchased. 0 problems, nothing. I have no experience with the Cherokee but haven't heard anything terrible. I also own a Tundra and my boys first truck will be a Tacoma in a few yrs. I know I sound like a homer but if a product proves to be quality I stick with it.

Has been my experience with Toyotas as well. I currently own a 2008 Tundra and have had no problems with it. Have owned Toyotas, GM's and Ford's and would put the GM at bottom of the list for quality in ranking the three manufacturers. I have not owned a Jeep.

Wife has a Tahoe
Cherokee was too small
And 4runner has a shitty cheap looking interior

I would buy a Toyota Highlander. How big of an SUV are you looking for?
The Tahoe has too many recalls. Here is the list.

The problem with gm's quality is usually in the first 2-3 years of a product.....my yukon is a 2011 and I didn't have any of the dash cracking, button peeling that occurred in the earlier models....I've got 97,000 trouble free miles and plan go to another 97k with it

I drive a 2010 Yukon Denali. I absolutely love it. It has SO much power, rides very comfortably (air ride suspension), and has some great safety features (like blind spot monitors, backup camera/beepers, etc.). I will agree that older GM trucks didn't have quite the highest top of the line interior but the interior in the new GM trucks is far and beyond high quality. They really stepped up their game.
It also depends if you want a front-wheel-drive-based crossover or a rear-wheel-drive-based, body-on-frame truck. The Tahoe/Yukon, 4runner, Expedition are body-on-frame. The Highlander, Pilot, Rogue, etc. are front-wheel-drive-based unibody vehicles. Then again, the Jeep Cherokee (based on the Mercedes ML platform now) is a rear-wheel-drive-based unibody. So it all depends on what you're looking for.

I've owned all three....
I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee now. I can't speak to the reliability yet as it still has less than 10K miles on it, but it drives/rides very well. The interior wins hands down over the 3 (the new Tahoe interior is damn nice though). The JGC is a nice blend of Lux/Performance/Price
I also have a 2009 Tahoe with 130K miles on it. While I've never had any problems with the engine, the interior hasn't held up well. Granted I have a wife who couldn't care less about keeping it up & 2 little hellions who beat the crap out of it. The symbols on the A/C buttons seem to have rubbed off and all 4 ext door handles have been replaced, some more than once. There are also some mechanical issues that have occurred. Each time I've taken it in for routine maintenance, I think I'm spending over $700. I've heard the service techs state on more than one occasion "GM should have done a recall on this part". The latest being one of the brake components (the solenoid or something). Again, it's got 130K miles, so I can't bitch too much.
I also had a 2004 4Runner 4x4 Limited for 7 years. It held up exceptionally well. Never had a single problem inside or out with it. I sold it just before I rolled 100K just because there were several major service requirements coming up costing $$$'s. But it still drove like new the day I sold it. And no, it wasn't a boring drive. The only reason I didn't get another 4Runner this last time is because, IMO, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the best looking <$50K SUV on the road right now.

Mercedes G-Wagon or nothing.

Ha TigerGMan, my wife has a 2011 QX56.
Best ride I have ever been in. And I have driven a lot of vehicles over the years while traveling for work. The base model is comparable to most fully loaded models of other SUVs.
A QX in price comparison is likely out of the OPs price range considering the other three vehicles that were named unless you are buying used.
Of the three listed by the OP, I would vote Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Tahoe.

3 great choices, but I think the Grand Cherokee looks the best.
