Need bible scholar

Or a good concordance and someone with curiosity.
Or maybe you know.
I went to a revival at which the now deceased rev Mike Gilchrist preached.
More than one actually but at just this one he referred to scripture I am about to paraphrase.
I want ch and verse.
Please and thank you.
He said that if a person "takes up the way" but does not himself actually buy into the story of the saving grace of the blood of Jesus, that the good karma of the person "acting as if" ie, living as if a Christian, going to church events, studying bible, all that Christian does, then the person may pray for someone to be blessed and the targeted person will receive the whatever blessings generated by the Actor living as if a follower of Jesus.

Hes talking about salvation and then falling away. If someone doesnt actually follow christ teachings he wasnt really saved in the first place.

Repenting of your sins
Be baptized in water.
