This. I just absolutely flew through his new book The Guilty. Had to go back and buy the first three books in the series and will be getting though those shortly.

Have you read anything by Greg Iles? I enjoy his books. The Quiet Game was excellent but all are good.

Bernard Cornwell for historical fiction.

Rodney Stark has some interesting books, sort of contrarian views of the Crusades and western civ.

There's been one Icelandic novel to win the Nobel prize for literature. it's called Independent People. Not sure if you're familiar. it's a long, long, dry read but a good insight into the mentality/character of the Icelandic people.
