Omaha World-Herald
quote:

Moore, 60, became the first condemned inmate in the state put to death by lethal injection. He had served 38 years on death row for the 1979 killings of Omaha cabdrivers Reuel Van Ness and Maynard Helgeland.

Helgeland and Van Ness were shot five days apart as Moore targeted cabdrivers because he knew they carried cash. Both men were 47 years old, fathers and military veterans.

what took so long. All they did waste waste money keeping him alive for 30 plus years. Heartless killers deserve justice on the fast track.

30 years, what a fricking joke.

Unless he spent that 30 years in absolute hell (which I doubt), Justice was not served.

At least Derrick Todd Lee had the decency to die in prison fairly quickly. He’s currently welcoming Carey Dean Moore to Hell.

He’s been begging for the state to kill him for 15 years now. He had 7 other execution dates stayed over the past 39 years. True story, he had a twin brother that was separated by the state as a kid. After 4 years on death row he ran into his twin brother in the pen, they swapped clothes, and Carey went to gen pop while his twin brother went to check out death row.
Also, one of the media witnesses today has attended 15 executions. Has this persons backyard been checked?

What’s with the changing/tweaking of drug cocktails? It’s a buffet of poisons right now. Just get a syringe chock full of fetanyl and get this shot over in 5 minutes

Cause the bastard needs to suffer.

Or are you talking about the drug company that doesnt want to hurt its image by producing the drugs for lethal injection?

Not the possible execution of innocent people? I can understand the issue with time and money if they are 100% on-video guilty, or if the condemned maintain their guilt, but my biggest issue is also shared with Moore's biggest issue.

Moore wanted death. He felt he deserved death. He felt others may not deserve death. That is a respectable and civil position to hold.

He didn’t suffer.. he got knocked out then dosed with an opioid before the lethal drugs were administered. I don’t care if it hurts if it’s brief.. lethal injections used to take 5-10 minutes to pronounce death and now it’s 20-30.

There are death penalty lawyers who dedicate their entire lives to ending the DP no matter case, and by whatever means necessary. They’ll argue that the prick of the needle is cruel and unusual and they’ll fight an execution against their own client’s wishes.
