Can’t ever go wrong with OG pen and paper.
I don’t even use the drawing function on FF.

Agreed, I keep some CRAFT cards in my bag and they’re usually left in the cockpit if I need it in a backup but I stick to my “controlled chaos” post-it most of the time.

How hard is it to look.

My exact thought. Even if they tell you it's clear how hard is it just to take a look in the direction planes are landing from to be 100% certain someone didn't eff up? A lot easier than risking 200 lives on the word of the ATC.

I could be crossing a road and someone on the other side could yell over, you're fine to cross...I'm still going to look every time.

And if you are not sure, stop and get clarification.

If the radio is synched correctly with the animation in the tweet posted, the Flexjet was told to stop by the ground controller yet continued on across the runway.

This is a runway incursion and the audio that was linked doesn't match the video. The controller cleared SW 2504 rwy 31C at the 15:50 mark, then he clears SW 1838 on 5 mile final to rwy 31C at the 17:42 mark while saying traffic was waiting on 31C. Then he tells SW 2358 at the 17:54 mark to line up and wait runway 31C. At the 18:02 mark the controller keys up fumbles his words and the SWA 2504 calls go around at the 18:06 mark. From the audio that is linked it seems like the controller cleared SW 2504 to land 31C then cleared SW 1838 to land when he was on a 5 mile final to 31C and then lined up SW 2358 on 31C and forgot about SW 2504 on short final for 31C. The audio and visual do not match unless I am missing something.

Why do we have planes crossing runways to begin with?

Because its dick was stuck in the chicken.

I heard in order to avoid this in the future they are going to be teaching a new very complicated procedure for all pilots.

It may take years to master though so don’t expect guys to have it down pat right away. Below is the process they will be teaching when taxing

I was on a flight coming back to Denver and had to do the same thing because another plane was in the way on our runway. We didn't quite make it all the way to touchdown though, the pilots started going back up just before touchdown. Did a loop and came back around for landing.
