I would put at least a dozen more guys in front of Paice and quite a few more in front of Ward.

So sorry to see this. Peart and Keith Moon were the greatest rock and roll drummers of all time

Stewart Copeland is really good.

A great drummer, songwriter, and more importantly to me a principled objectivist. A hero of mine for sure. A guy who never compromised on what he wanted to do and by not compromising, he never let me down.

This is the first “celebrity” death I can remember that makes me deeply sad.

This just sucks... I finally got to see them on the R40 tour for the first time in my life.

David Berman dying a few months ago was big for me. But I watching a rush doc right now with some good Niel interview time

not sure this will make sense to everyone but perhaps and hopefully musicians will get it

Neil Peart was to drumming what Stevie Ray Vaugn was to guitar

Technically amazing and talented but could play balls out Rock and Rock with soul and energy

an amazing combination of what makes music so universal

Jamming some 80s synth Rush tonight. Grace Under Pressure is GOAT.

My Dad’s favorite band is Rush and seeing them live with the Old Man in 2011 will always be one of my favorite memories.

I took lessons from Marty Hurley when I was a kid. Played snare and dabbled with a set at home.

Neal was the GOAT. About this, there can be no debate.

Moon was a perfect fit for the Who. May not have done well in another group

Not at all. Just on a different plane.

Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory
Of lighted streets on quiet nights

Couldn’t get past that howler monkey screeching words over his playing to enjoy his music. Damn shame.

Nothing could be further from the truth, but I've seen this misconception stated before.

Rush was all soul.

Have an upvote. Anyone can bang out power chords or bang a kit with speed, but you don't know someone's genius on an instrument until you try to replicate their technical skill.
RIP Neil, GOAT
