John Bonham, Keith Moon, and Ginger Baker have something to say about that. Definitely top 5 though

Bill Ward and Ian Paice are in the conversation.

You ought to read the story about his auditioning for Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson for Rush.

There is a very good documentary on Netflix about Rush.

He was a great songwriter, drummer, wordsmith, author and photographer as well. I’ve read 3 or 4 of his books.

He came back after writing Ghost Rider after not having played for like 4-5 years and they toured up until 2015 when he said he just couldn’t play like he wanted to anymore because of tendinitis. He also had remarried, moved to California and had a new young daughter he wanted to be with.

He rode his motorcycle worldwide and except for America his friend Brutus rode with him. Brutus couldn’t come into the United States after he spent time in prison for smuggling weed. His books are great and I highly recommend reading.

I’m a sad guy right now.

Sad day indeed. I finally saw them about 12 years ago. Peart doesn't get enough credit for his lyrics and writing. Without him there'd be no RUSH as we know them.

Incredible show then even with Geddy's strained vocals. Glad I got to see them live, once.

Bill Ward was as good as them.

He is much too underappreciated

Absolutely. He wasn’t a wildman like Keith Moon and he didn’t hit as hard as John Bonham but he was more in that technical mode. He went back to completely revamp his techniques in the early 2000’s by getting Freddie Gruber to help him.

And yes...that band made all that music with only three people.

And I’d put Alex Lifeson up there with the best guitar players as well even with Jimmy Page.

I saw them about 8 or so times including when they stopped in Baton Rouge mid 70’s, once I believe opening for KISS and I know once when they were the opening act. They put on a great show up to 2015.

Overwhelming majority? I mean, this is a skill of playing drums not someone’s voice. It should be pretty cut and dry.

Was fortunate enough to see the legends of RUSH during the R40 tour in the Smoothie King Center a few years back. How lucky I was. Rock lost a legend Tuesday. A legend.

And for those that don’t know, which apparently is most of the media, it is pronounced P ear t, not Purt.

Just heard two mispronounce it. And half of the musicians in the documentary pronounce it wrong.

Man this saddens me. Those guys were legends as a 3 man band. Peart kept them tight and in time. RIP

Well that’s quite a loss if there ever was one.

It’s a sad day in the world of music.
