Good. To spend millions on fricking name changes is sad and would have been a deeply troubling sign of where our priorities stand. Words, names, and titles are all bullshite, and its weird that the PC culture has thrived on non-physical "progressivism"

Many years ago, the United States Army decided that experienced, combat trained, infantry soldiers who had achieved the level of "corporal" (just below sergeant on the NCO scale) and who could lead men in combat would be called "Specialist 4th Class". Same as the guy with 5, 6, 7 years of service in Germany or California who changed spark plugs in a truck. Go Navy!

This seems to be a case where some Officer who hasn't sailed anything larger than a desk thought it would be a great idea to align Navy Jobs with civilian terms while making it easier for the Navy to stick you in an unbilleted/unrelated field. F that...

The Navy rating system is a time honored tradition. As a young sailor it was a point of pride when I graduated "A" school and was able to sew my rate onto my sleeves.
