$30 per vehicle

This is the cost of 1 vehicle for 7 day’s at Zion. I’m surprised these seasonal fees have stayed this low for so long. $70 for 7 Days is still next to nothing. We usually get the annual pass for all parks at $80 anyway since many trips there involve multiple parks and in case we take another trip.

Which brings me to this interesting take from the link in the OP:

quote:

It is possible the proposed fee restructuring could hurt certain parks because a seasonal fee of $70 per vehicle could make buying the systemwide $80 annual pass a popular option for most people planning to visit one of the 17 parks. The price of that annual pass does not change under the NPS’s new proposal.

Because 80 percent of the money paid for an annual pass stays with the park where it was purchased, some parks could miss out on the hoped-for new revenue. Visitors touring the Colorado Plateau, for example, could buy the pass at their first fee-charging park, such as Colorado National Monument or Petrified Forest National Park, then get into Utah parks for free.

Something Ive noticed in our national parks...seems like at least half the visitors are foreigners

If overcrowding is a problem, how bout we charge the foreigners $100 per car and us Mericans the original prices?

I like it, in-country tuition for us tax-paying Americans.

Many MANY countries do this for their big attractions. Foreign tourists always pay more.

I don't see why not. They'd be more willing to pay anyway.

$500 for 5..... you pay that for a 2-day park hopper for two adults.

I thought Trump was donating his salary so this type of thing wouldn't have to happen?

This is not good. These parks were made for the poor people to have a chance to see some pretty nature and now they are going to be banned from the parks. Way to go democrats!

Won't keep out the Chinese. Those guys didn't leave a good impression when I ran into them at RMNP or D.C>.

It will help keep the riff-raff out so I won’t have to mix with the masses. Let them eat cake.

When we were in Yellowstone last summer it felt like we had somehow relocated to China.

National Parks are intended for the people of the nation they reside in. Foreigners should pay more for the privilege of accessing them.

Mixed bag. I kinda support the idea of reducing casual usage. I also know when we were raising our kids years ago, that kind of pricing would have been tough for us. If they do this increase now, I hope it does have the desired effect on traffic and crowds at peak times. And in terms of using these fees as advertised, I also hope they do that as well. But I wonder who is going to police that. And what about National Forests? They fall under another Department, like the Coast Guard.

So the national parks are supposed to be national treasure, but the citizens are going to get ripped off to just enter it? WTF?

Why not reallocate some of our wasted spending that we as tax payers are already wasting our money on, instead of charging us even more?

We are spending millions of aid over seas, yet we can't make it cheaper for people to access our national parks?

At peak time Yellowstone probably has a couple mil in camera gear within its boundaries.

Yes I do. Worth it and the parks are too crowded anyway with cars and young whippersnappers. Can't even find a place to park to see the bears anymore. forget about parking anywhere close to the big ditch or that water spout deal they have at that other park.

The policy has no effect on my old geezer lifetime pass, so they could make it $1000.00 per car for all I care.

I always thought the price to get into the National Parks was a very reasonable deal, especially since the price is good for the entire week. I don't think it's a big deal.

I was in the Badlands recently and heard more Russian than English on one trail.
