The nation’s average price of gasoline has fallen 6.9 cents over the last week and stands at $3.78 per gallon, according to GasBuddy® data compiled from more than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. The national average is down 55.6 cents from a month ago and is 64.2 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel fell 11.4 cents in the last week and stands at $4.876 per gallon.

Average gasoline prices fell in 46 states over the last week, with diesel declining in 49, pushing the national average to its lowest level since mid-March,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

“The declines came despite a turbulent week, as fresh attacks were traded between the U.S. and Iran before both sides agreed to halt hostilities just in time Sunday, preventing what could have been a significant spike in oil prices. For now, GasBuddy anticipates the national average will continue drifting lower this week, though the situation remains anything but predictable. A handful of price-cycling states could see prices jump ahead of the July 4 holiday, while many states that already cycled higher last week should see prices fall back down."

Oil prices stabilized modestly to start the week after last week’s dramatic selloff, which saw crude shed more than 10% as tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz accelerated and Persian Gulf exports recovered to roughly 75% of prewar levels. The modest rebound reflects lingering uncertainty—Iran and the U.S. traded strikes on vessels late last week before agreeing to halt further attacks ahead of renewed peace talks in Doha on Tuesday, underscoring just how fragile the diplomatic progress remains.

In early Monday trade, WTI was up 66 cents to $69.89 per barrel, just above last Monday’s $75.88 level before Friday’s close below $70, while Brent gained 46 cents to $72.45, compared to $78.57 a week ago, with both benchmarks now essentially back to pre-war levels but unlikely to stay there if talks stumble.

“Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, we saw an uptick in ships crossing the Strait, with stranded ships suddenly becoming available and providing a wave of new supply. More importantly, ships are moving into the Gulf, as that is required to see production recovering in the Middle East."

The EIA’s Weekly Petroleum Status Report for the week ending June 19, 2026, showed U.S. commercial crude oil inventories fell by 6.1 million barrels and are about 7% below the five-year average for this time of year, while the SPR fell 9.1 million barrels to 331.2 million barrels. Gasoline inventories rose by 2.1 million barrels and are about 5% below the five-year seasonal average.

Dudes and Dudettes, it is going to be a great Fourth of July weekend for our 250th celebration. Maybe even the greatest in the history of the world, according to some experts I've spoken with. In fact, one expert told me just the other day, "RaginCajun03, this coming Fourth of July weekend is going to be so awesome, I just can't believe it. I would have never imagined how awesome it can be, but sure enough, it will be."

that data seems a bit outdated; i'm seeing gas hovering right around the $3 mark all over the place here.

Not sure where you live, but if in Louisiana, AAA has Concordia Parish as the lowest parish-wide average for Regular today, at $3.183/gallon.

Again, these are averages. Your Sam's Clubs and Costcos in Louisiana could very well be selling right at $3/gallon even, while stations in other areas in the state are still in the $3.45 or so range.

The liberal doomers on reddit have been awfully quiet the last week or so. They were predicting gas to surge past $8 a gallon lol

Sure falls a lot slower than it goes up.
Unfortunately this thing isn't over yet.

Ahh...ok. Cool deal.

AAA is showing Rutherford County as averaging $3.24/gallon. So that makes sense the Costco and Walmart/Sam's Clubs spots would be what they are.

What is Dodge's Store?

Same source is showing Montgomery as the lowest county average in your state, at $3.049/gallon.

Scott Jennings pointed out to CNN that they took down their higher prices index without saying a thing.

Kroger @ 3.04, Murphy stations @ 2.99, Walmarts @ 2.99

so you don't have to go to a sams club or costco to get those prices.

downtown nashville is ridiculous; probably averaging closer to $4 but head a little north towards the madison or goodletsville areas or south towards fairview and you can get those prices.

i'm a cheap bastard so i keep my eye on where the gas is cheapest around here

Same source you linked for Tennessee prices, GasBuddy showing some of the prices in Houston being sub $3/gallon.

Yet that Shell station at intersection of Buffalo Speedway and SW Freeway is still over $4/gallon.

I can't believe anyone still stops there for gasoline, but they do.

Gas in Baton Rouge has gone up about 30 cents in the last week for whatever reason.

I am sure retail prices for everything that "shot up" during the Hormuz crisis will be coming down any time now right?
