A female, Baptist pastor resided over multiple weddings and funerals in my family.

1 Timothy 2:12 ESV

I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.

1 Corinthians 14:33-36 ESV

For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

Of course. But the above citations are also the "Word of God".

FWIW, I attended a Baptist Church for several years.

I don’t have a dog in the fight, but quoting the Old Testament isn’t doing what you think that it’s doing.

But the scriptures are also clear on the role of women in the Church…

quote:

quote:
1 Timothy 2:11-12: "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent".

1 Corinthians 14:34-35: "Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home".

quote:

Those aren’t my words, those are the word’s from the scripture. Our opinion on the matter really doesn’t matter. ..Downvote it, scream at it, do whatever you like. The Bible says why it says and we can either accept it or not.

It’s a moot point to me anyway since I’m atheist. But I’m not sure it’s ever really explicitly stated in the Bible that priests have to be male. That’s just a Catholic tradition stemming from the fact that Jesus (assuming he existed at all) was male.

Had you looked into this further, you would see this was pertaining to the Israelites under the Mosaic covenant, not Christians under Christ's covenant.

Mainline Protestant churches are super woke the further you get away from the original Church the more diluted it becomes.

Cool it with the anti-Semitism, bro. Some of the Jewish people on this website might be upset at how you’re arguing the Old Testament doesn’t matter.

Attempted gotchas are impervious to the fact that Christians no longer live under the law.

Im not going to say its going to be a regular for me to listen to a female preach a mass or serman. In My experience, Most of all them I know live in a drastically, different reality than Me.
Im not saying what they are preaching doesnt have merit, but for me, on a regular basis, i dont feel its applicable.

Same group telling me pitbulls are just sweet caring misunderstood peaceful dogs.

For who can denie but it repugneth to nature, that the blind shal be appointed to leade and conduct such as do see? That the weake, the sicke, and impotent persones shall norishe and kepe the hole and strong, and finallie, that the foolishe, madde and phrenetike shal gouerne the discrete, and giue counsel to such as be sober of mind? And such be al women, compared vnto man in bearing of authoritie. For their sight in ciuile regiment, is but blindnes: their strength, weaknes: their counsel, foolishenes: and judgement, phrenesie, if it be rightlie considered.

Uhh... what? What attempted gotcha and what Christians don't live under the law? If someone claims to be a Christian, yet doesn't strive to live their life by God's word, are they really a Christian?

You're either a Saint or you ain't.

That’s a surface level understanding of those scriptures and you’re failing to include the context of when and why they were written.

Why do you accept those verses as literal instructions for modern day and ignore Romans 16:1, Romans 16:7, and Acts 18:26?

I might accept that there’s little evidence of scripture to support women in a head role of leadership in the church (a female pope for example). But to preach, counsel, shepherd, and pastor can all be argued as biblically accurate.

Chromosome counts? Are you under the impression that the adjective “retarded” only (or ever solely did) refers to someone with Down syndrome?

I understood your statement very well, but it was dumb. It shows that you have no knowledge of the historical development of Christianity. You could start with Galatians if you want a refresher.
