The regional Nation of Islam is calling for another boycott of major Baton Rouge retailers and restaurants in response to the July 5 killing of Alton Sterling by police. WBRZ-TV reports the regional group held the “Justice or Else Coalition” town hall meeting on Saturday, at which it encouraged black residents to spend their dollars at black-owned businesses. The group also described U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s roundtable discussion on Friday with Baton Rouge law enforcement and other stakeholders as “not enough.”

They've been calling for boycotts for about a month now and no one gives a shite about it, including black people.

Once upon a time there was a black economy. Not black market, but an economy of small businesses in the black communities.

There are unintended consequences to government actions. The war on poverty killed it and gave rise to such beloved retailers such as Walmart.

They must have not included the Mall of La on their list because it looked like a black panther rally last Friday

I wonder where did they get their black dollars? I bet most of them were white dollars to start off.

Yeah, BR doesn't care about them. The Boys in Blue sent them packing with their tails between their legs.

The mall was their main target.

Hell, they were calling on a boycott of the mall just for a weekend and no black people batted an eye over going there.

There is nothing wrong with this sentiment. Reinvesting in one's own community is a good thing. Not sure why the BLM and Islamic leaders think this is a novel idea for a protest. They should always be encouraging this behavior.

Do white people get to claim Tony's Seafood as theirs? Because it is white owned.

Or because the business is located in a predominantly black community, is it permissible for black people to spend money at Tony's?

Absolutely. It would be smarter to just say support businesses in our community who set up shop where we live. Stop driving over to the mall and spend at home.

Take this with a grain of salt. Over the weekend, I heard from a LEO from a different parish that during Sterling's autopsy, there were two bullets removed from his right leg (said to have been from Sterling's weapon). Possibly fired when he tried to get the gun from his pocket. Has anyone else heard this?

That first one almost put us into a recession. I don't think BR can handle another one. I drove by Cortana the other day and the parking lot was almost empty.
