Yeah, the fear mongering media loves to insinuate the amount of "accidental" fentanyl overdoses as being an epidemic. Just look at this case. If the dude from Georgia was a poor black man, this doesn't even make the news, much less go viral. "Normal" white people overdosing is much sexier.
I feel it is safe to assume OD's from the lacing of other drugs with fentanyl is a lot less prevalent than addicts using and overdosing on fentanyl as their drug of choice.

What I posted had nothing to do with "racist stuff". I was merely pointing out the medias angle is ,all too often, to exploit Race to garner clicks/views. Again, it is only a viral story because it involves a middle/upper class white dude. You honestly believe that if a black guy had overdosed, the media would give a shite?
And he didn't disappear into the night. He walked his arse to a crack house, ordered a pair of hookers from a pimp, shot dope with said hookers, and overdosed. The only thing newsworthy about this from the medias perspective was the guy was white.

I had a colleague die at a conference in September. He and another guy got coke that was laced with fentanyl.
He was not a bad guy. I had no idea he used drugs. Some people on my field do. But I’m pretty sure in his case it was a casual thing.
You absolutely cannot buy drugs anymore unless you are prepared to possibly die.

This story is pretty big in Atlanta and every single time I have heard it aired on tv and radio they keep calling this “an accidental death”
It’s not an “accidental death” - it’s a fricking drug overdose death
Makes no sense to me in addition to saying there was no indication of foul play but the dude was wrapped up in a fricking rolled up carpet wrapped in plastic
There is a lot of frickery going on with this and none of it makes sense to me

I had a casual acquaintance…one of a male gay couple. Who OD’ed about four years ago during gay pride month. Simply drank too much and did coke. Toxicology didn’t find anything else in system, something about alcohol and coke that mixes to form another metabolite and is processed differently in the body. I think he just wanted to celebrate the day..
I have had some shitty days and some amazing days I wish never ended. I have never tried any form of drugs in my life. However I can completely empathize with the desire to escape pain and amplify joy. These days, it’s playing Russian Roulette. May God have mercy upon our kids.
