I lived in Meadowview, just a couple blocks from the two girls that were killed.

It hit about two in the morning on a Sunday, which kept the fatalities down. There were around 230 injured. Meadowview Elem School was destroyed

Bossier City. I was in HS.
The amazing thing is some of the tornados were on the ground for 60 miles
I believe the closed Drive In was still on the corner of Tx & Airline at that time.

Yep, it sure was. The Mall was built shortly after. Tornado cut right through there.

Weird how central and northern Mississippi and Alabama are in a more shaded area than central and north Louisiana. Any reason for that?

I left a dance at Barksdale an hour before it hit.

I saw Star Wars at the drive in where bossier mall is now. My grandparents had just moved back from germany and all their furniture was in the storage facility that got destroyed. My dad drove by and saw all that was left of a restaurant was eggs in crates and a toilet. He always says if a tornado comes he is gonna sit on the can with an egg in each hand.lol

Omg noioooo!!!! This is too much for these people. My god I can’t imagine seeing it and possibly other tornado damages when the sun comes up. Where is the Cairo photo from?

I know it was said in this thread that TWC didn't pick up on the Cairo tornado until it was literally on top of the town
did the NWC have that storm tornado warned before it got to Cairo?
was there any lead time whatsoever?

Not sure what part of Cairo but from twitter, short wave radio asking anyone who can help to report there because the entire town was damaged.

NWS Tallahassee Twitter
The NWS Tallahassee did but I don't think there was very much lead time and it looked like it vanished pretty quick too

My God, I did not expect this kind of event to happen today.
This (I believe since I can't think of any other events) is the deadliest tornado event in Alabama since the April 27th, 2011 Super Outbreak.

The Latest on Deep South storms (all times local):
10 p.m.
Authorities in southwest Georgia are searching door to door in darkened neighborhoods after a possible tornado touched down in the rural city of Cairo.
Cairo City Manager Chris Addleton said office and commercial buildings in the downtown had windows blown out and metal roofs torn off by the storm Sunday evening. He said some residents reported being stuck inside homes that were damaged or had trees on them.
There were no immediate reports of serious injuries in the community, 33 miles (about 50 kilometers) north of the Florida capital of Tallahassee.
Electricity was out. Addleton said the full extent of the damage likely wouldn't be known until daylight.
The National Weather Service Weather says an outbreak of tornadoes swept a wide area of the Deep South on Sunday as severe storms crossed the region.
