This is mostly true. It could have a bearing on custody if you involve the children.

Seems like there is a lot of in-law stuff that goes on in the world.

Apparently he is very talented since his paintings sell for $500k+….
The market has softened though in the last 6 months or so….

Unless something has changed, it can be grounds for a fast divorce in Louisiana, where you don’t have to wait the 6/12 months. I’m not sure if it affects finances. Doubt it.

I know someone who divorced a her husband while he was in prison for murder. She still had to pay him a shite ton, even though she was the only one who worked. I think it ended up being more like 1/3 of their assets instead of half, but it was a lot. He also cheated, but that was the least of the problems in that situation.

All of my bad divorce stories involve menopause. I've seen so many 20 year marriages end when the wife hits their 40s its unreal and sad as hell.

One of my friends wives went absolutely mental. Totally opposite. He was such a mild mannered and rock solid guy that her only complaint was that he didn't give her enough attention. If you tried to talk to her about the situation she would just scream about not getting attention.

One day she came out of their bedroom naked grabbing her crotch and saying "you'll never get this again". Friends were there as well as his two kids. He grabbed her and shoved her into the bedroom saying wtf is wrong with you.

She then came out of the bedroom fully clothed, flopped onto the floor and called the police claiming she had been abused. In 20 years I'd never seen this woman anything but mild mannered. Menopause is a hell of a drug.

She wound up leaving and in a few weeks met some poor rich bastard. My buddy got to keep the house since it was built on family land not owned by the couple. My friend was an awesome dad and I felt so bad for those two kids seeing their mom like that.

I think she did several circles running over him repeatedly. Pretty sure she was in a Texas land yacht as well

She better kill me with the next blow or two because if I grab her, its not going to end well.

I am not an attorney, but I would assume if you are taking your child to have a sleepover during an affair on multiple occasions, it could have an impact on custody. The child is told to lie about it after seeing them engaging in sexual activity. Something like that?

I don't understand how one could even drag this out. A paternity test should be the first thing mandated imo.

Things that she did to try to drag it out:

- Not agreeing to any settlement suggestions from my friend and his lawyer. They ended up going to meditation 4 different times before the Judge stepped in (costing thousands of dollars).

- Filing a motion to try to deny the paternity test. It was first brought up before they went before the Judge and she refused. The court had to mandate it (and they did fairly early on) but she tried her hardest to delay it as long as possible. Would claim the child was sick and not available, all kinds of stuff. It basically took a threat from the Judge to throw her arse in jail before she agreed to it.

- Her lawyer filing multiple bullshite motions over just absurd stuff that required the Judge's response. The Judge finally got tired of it and squashed a lot of it. But of course it took time.

- She would not sign anything until the absolute last minute.

- She fired her lawyer twice.

I get that, I’m just talking about in that specific situation. If I’m a judge and a couple came to me and one of them says that the kid isn’t theirs, I’d mandate a paternity test before I’d even listen to anything else.

Just a couple other notes:

- This occurred out in the state in a small jurisdiction. It took forever just to get on the docket.

- She was about 2 1/2 months pregnant when she disclosed to him that she had an affair. They didn't even get before a judge until she was close to 5 months pregnant. She had some health issues that made the pregnancy high risk, so the Judge wouldn't mandate a paternity test until after the baby was born.

My parents got into a nasty divorce when I was 7.

I guess I will never really know the real reasons they split, but they still hate each other to this day.

But the worst part for me was that they both me in the middle of thier shite. My dad would make me hand my mom her alamony and child support checks each month. He would hand them to me in the driveway and then I'd go inside and give them to her.
