My understanding is faculty and students both had “training” similar to a fire drill or earthquake drill. Problem is we’re talking about small school children and teachers. They’re not receiving enough training nor do they really have the acumen to heed that training when a tragic situation comes to be. Training or not, that situation is going to be pure chaos.
What I was told was they taught the kids the quickest discreet path out of the building and where to run and hide. They were apparently finding kids hiding in the woods by the church. Which explains why some kids were missing for awhile.
