UPDATE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Parts of Interstate 40 and Interstate 65 have been shut down after a semi hit a bridge.
Reports stated the crash happened just after 12 p.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes of I-40 at Exit 210 for I-65.
Officials said the semi did not clear the bridge, crashing underneath it. The semi was reportedly hauling a dump truck.
The roadway in that area for eastbound traffic has been closed.
Authorities also closed the bridge, which is the ramp from Interstate 65 North to Interstate 40 West, south of downtown. The bridge reportedly has damage, according to photos taken at the scene.
With the closures, Bridgestone Arena representatives warned those heading to Game 1 of Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to plan ahead. The Preds are taking on the Jets at 7 p.m.
Reports stated those areas would be closed for multiple hours. We will update you with the latest details when they become available.
UPDATE
quote:
Tennessee Department of Transportation officials said the bridge would not reopen tonight. Crews will build structures on either side of the vehicle to ensure the bridge is stable, before trying to move it out from under the bridge.
They weren't sure how much the vehicle is supporting the bridge, and said they had not estimate of when the road would be reopened.
And frick this driver/company
quote:
The Tennessee Highway Patrol cited the semi-truck driver and equipment moving company, D G Equipment Movers Llc. out of Lily, Kentucky.
Officials said the driver did not have the proper endorsements on his driver's license or the proper permit to be in the area.
He was cited for the vehicle being overweight, over-height, over-width and for not having the proper endorsements on his license.
"It is absolutely, 100 percent the driver's fault and the company's fault for being in this area," said a THP sergeant.
The driver was supposed to have taken a route through West Tennessee.

For those not familiar with the area, this is where 2 interstates come together and is the main access to western parts of downtown. Traffic nightmare will ensue.

The dump truck looks like it held up better than the support structure

The only other better weekend for this to happen would be CMA/Bonnaroo weekend.

I was there about a month ago and almost missed my flight out because somebody did the same thing. Wonder if it was the same spot.
