Because if we assume life outside of us is capable of existing, then we have to assume a life form (multiple life forms) have gone through full evolutionary cycles all the way to extinction. They spread out as far as they could... they learned/utilized every possible technology... yet you and I are still alone here.

This is not correct. Classical physics never deals with anything near the speed of light. Classical physics breaks down near the speed of light and can no longer be used. Relativistic mechanics rectifies this.
Going faster than the speed of light would break all laws of causality. It just can't happen. Both in the math and logically. It can't happen.

Alone to you means you haven't seen a little green man. Assuming we evolve to the same end being, there could be an "alien" that looks like us, walking around collecting data for his people. Or, distance, and available resources could keep beings away, then there is the great filter theory. To assume we are the only living beings in the universe is on par with people who think the earth is 6000 years old.
